Never saw that, but I know GM quoted the LS3 going 12.9@111/110mph while the L99 was 13.3@104 or something or other.

At this point all we have to do is wait until tomorrow. The embargo drops and all the real test info on the 2011 GT and V6 come out. Then we can magazine and forum race until our eyes bleed.

the average difference between the manual and auto SS's have not been 7 mph. From what I've seen, it's been about 3 mph or so or even less.

I was comparing the 2010 Mustang GT to the 2010 Camaro LS3. MotorTrend has the GT with a trap of 104 mph, and the SS with a trap of 111/110 mph.

Oh, thanks for bringing me up to speed. I wish you could get the Camaro with lower gears from the factory. I have the automatic and I wouldn't mind having the same gear ratio as the manual.

Why dont you take a look at the stock 1/4 mile time records before you call BS. The LS3 camaro has gone 12.5 and the L99 12.8. And if you truly knew the story with L99's you would know the numbers have been all over the place. Obviously a 103 trap speed is not a good example of an L99 car. 107 is a typical trap for a proper running L99. (right behind the mustang auto with 12 less hp and more weight)

You have a more aggressive set of ratios from the factory than the manual.

Not really. Lots of tests had the camaro trapping nearly 111 and the mustang GT trapping 104.

We still had to hear that it was a drivers race from the mustang faithful

Just what I would expect as the HP numbers are very close. With the Mutang being 300# lighter. Nubers stink, but its on an unprepped surface. If you dont want to read the Mustang is faster in the 1/8 both in ET and MPH.
Mustangs are like those tough, genetically gifted kids that don't play nice or make friends easy but usually come out on top in competition. I was always jealous of those kids. haha

Congrats to the new Mustang. Ford apparently did it right.

This is good for the muscle car competition. Perhaps Chevy will improve the Camaro now.

Also hope that all the other tests are done with the LS3 Camaro as it is the one to beat for the Mustang.

I read a number of posts in the thread you linked, but I must admit I'm kind of a slow learner sometimes. I think I got the idea, generally, but I always thought 3:45 gear ratio was considered a more aggressive gear ratio than 3:27?

Would you mind summarizing to the best of your ability and of course at your convenience why the L99 A6 has a more aggressive set of ratios from the factory?

Thanks.

Btw, my L99 can run below 4.6 0-60 with better traction. It runs 4.6 with almost 3 seconds of burning out when I launch in sport mode with T/C and S/T turned off.

Edit: I forgot to add that I have a Corsa catback and Halltech CAI. Makes a big difference.
