BMW just doesn't have a good track record with their V8s. S65 had a lot of issues with the main bearings as well. I don't think that will be changing.

As for the interior, it's to each of their own. I personally wouldn't put much emphasis on it. In fact, sometimes less is more for them. I drove one of my friends' NA Miata and I loved how simple and basic the interior is. It's just you, the car, and the wind brushing against your hair with the top down. Even the ND Miata has a nice yet simplistic interior compared to a lot of stuff on the market right now. ND is perfectly daily driveable without the bells and whistles becoming distracting and adding a ton of weight. It's not like I will be sleeping in the car, so as long as the interior matches the price of the car, I am willing to accept it.

Cars like the 240 are quick, but isolating road noise and feel. They are designed to be smoother. Smoother engine mounts, transmissions, etc. These only start to get to a harder edge with the actual "M" cars like M2 and even then some of them are still not very engaging, just very very quick (but some are getting rave reviews like the M2C).

It's a different style totally. The 2SS interior I have doesn't suck, but the car doesn't isolate like my BMW did or my Stinger does.
This reminds me of a review comparing SS 1LE to M2C. It's funny how they swapped places over the course of a few decades. BMW used to be the more engaging, less fast yet fun to drive kind, while American ponies are more like cruisers that focus more on straight line acceleration. How the times change...
