Our sister site Camaro5 member Schmidty just spotted this black C7 today in San Diego! There was also a red C7, which they didn’t get photos of. Here’s Schmidty’s account of the exciting sighting:
ChargedCamaro and I went for a cruise today up to Borrego Springs to enjoy our cars in the awesome California weather (went from 52 degrees and snow to 84 and sun in the matter of minutes)! Thank God my buddy has no sense of direction because we missed our turn at the bottom of the mountain, but when we went back this Black Beauty had just parked in a lot we were about to pass. ChargedCamaro redeemed himself and pointed out this lucky find so we cornered the cornered in the lot and blocked all exits! Turns out there were a couple prototype Corvette’s doing some testing on the mountain. We chatted up the Development Engineer and asked if we could take pics. I believe this Black One is the Sport Prototype and they were testing steering. The red one was on the mountain with a large black van behind it (secret service? haha). The engineers joked that it was protected by Pit Bulls. I asked about the blue one which we had seen pics of the crash on different blogs. He mentioned it was a friend of his who was driving it and that it had also recently been on the mountain. Anyway, wanted to share a few pics. This car is absolutely beautiful in person! ENJOY!
Full set of photos after the jump.

The C7 Corvette Stingray engine, the LT1, will be one of GM’s most impressive mass produced engine ever, outputting 450 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque from 6.2 liters of displacement.
But, according to some tuners, it may be closer to the limits of its performance envelope in production form than the LS. In this article, Ken Lingenfelter (of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering), explains why he thinks that tuners may not be able to squeeze much more than 700HP out of the LT1.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray full online configurator is not available yet, but GM has put a C7 “Colorizer” online which should help hold us over.
And although we’ve seen the same previews of all these factory colors already (see our Official Color Threads list), the Colorizer does allow you to pair each color with different factory wheels, for an even better preview. Click image to visit the Colorizer.

This Laguna Blue C7 Corvette Stingray is the first publicly known/seen casualty.
It was crashed in the Arizona mountains in some tight switchbacks. It was described to have hit a center guardrail before bouncing all the way right and into the rock wall.

From its fiberglass body in 1953 to its aluminum chassis for 2014, Chevrolet Corvette has a six-decade track record for introducing lightweight materials that improve vehicle performance. With the 2014 Corvette weighing in 99 pounds lighter than its predecessor, that trend continues.
The redesigned seventh-generation sports car is the first vehicle to use a General Motors’-developed lightweight shape memory alloy wire in place of a heavier motorized actuator to open and close the hatch vent that releases air from the trunk. This allows the trunk lid to close more easily than on the previous models where trapped air could make the lid harder to close.

Watch the 2013 Super Bowl MVP, Joe Flacco, being presented the keys to his newly won 2014 Corvette Stingray (for being the game’s MVP).
Those are just a representative key and Corvette however, as production of Flacco’s actual C7 will not be until production begins in the Summer-Fall.
