Mercedes Investigating Possible Sabatoge
Apparently, some individuals in the quality control portion of the company have engaged in sabotage, allowing local shops to get a boost in traffic and damaging the overall ratings of Mercedes cars.
Discuss.

The car business in general is so crooked, I had to get out.
This sabotage could be true. I've seen things at large dealerships that would blow your mind. How about the service dispatcher taking bribes to the tune of thousands of dollars per week, to give certain techs the high buck cars. (Out of warranty, higher mileage, called GRAVY cars in the industry). Then imagine one of the largest dealer owners in the world telling you he knows all about it, and you better keep your mouth shut, because he makes more money that way too. The techs fed the gravy cars "smoke tickets" (steal), and the owners love it. Not all are crooked, but the industry in general, is as crooked as you've heard, and much, much more. |

You know why they did it? Because they feared they could lose their jobs if they ran out of work. They "created" problems in order to keep their job. Not exactly the smartest move obviously, but desperate people do desperate things.
I don't remember which automaker in Germany, but one of them will close its plants for five (!!!!) weeks because there's nothing to do for the workers at the moment. Others have cut work to only a two-day work-week. I read in the "Spiegel" (big german business/news magazine) that, worst case, 20% of people in Germany could end up without a job... Friends of mine that are fresh out of college trying to get a job are having a very very hard time as well. Scary times in Germany as well, not only over here... |
