More good financial news for GM as well as Ford & Chrysler

In addition to being the sales leader, GM is also posting the highest average transaction price for their vehicles. (www.autoblog.com). Ford and Chrysler follow up in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Even more important, all 3 of them posted gains that beat the industry average. I can't think of a better path to profitability than that.

Good for the company, but a higher 'average transaction price' sounds not so appealing to me as a consumer... But maybe that's just due to people throwing on more options to their vehicles?

I attribute it to the vehicle mix more than anything. The best selling vehicle GM offers is the Silverado. The best selling from Toyota is the Camry. Pickup trucks are more expensive than midsize cars. Plus, GM's premium/luxury divisions outsell Lexus.

Yeah but, what more can you hope for? From a revenue perspective, this is the best case scenario for them.

DG hit the nail on the head in one aspect -- look at the product portfolio. (For example, if Ferrari were thrown into the mix, it'd be outrageous...)

But Transaction price increases without a dramatic portfolio change (which there hasn't been)...indicates a perceived value increase in the market. THAT is fantastic news.

What's even better is that they're making money, no longer losing. That means less "cost-cutting", and more "reinvestment" into better cars and trucks.

Quantify that. Not that it matters. GM = Domestic, and that's what many people mean by "American made".

(To my knowledge, very little, if anything is actually made in Australia...the Camaro team did Co-Opt Engineering work down under with Holden, but that's it.)
