Rumors: Jeep may build a pickup truck

http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php...rs-swirl-again

Rumors are swirling of a jeep pickup truck. I think they should definatly make it and it needs to be Wrangler based like the concept below.

Make that with the new Pentastar V6 and I don't think they could make thm fast enough!

Throw a diesel in it, like mentioned here, and one would be in my driveway!! I've loved that concept since I saw it a few years ago, IIRC, they were calling it the Gladiator. I also like Dodge's PowerWagon concept...

But the Gladiator reminds me of those old M715s, which are cool as hell!

I'd buy one.

What was the old 1/4 ton they used to make? the Commanche? My buddy had one in high school and it was a sweet little truck

Yes it would! I haven't heard anything about it since this concept. So yes?

I think this would just be perfect with the next Dakota becoming a crossover pickup thing (and it had become way too big anyways). Ah it makes so much sense it's driving me nuts! Offer it in Rubicon with all the Wrangler Rubicon add-ons with a Pentastar with 290 HP and 24MPG and a high torque deisel capable of around 30 MPG and a decent tow rating.

I had an old J-4000 full size Jeep pickup, that I built from the ground up when I was 17. It was a very cool and unique vehicle. 4X4, 360 V8, Auto Tranny.

this concept car was built in the late 2005-2006 car show circuit. It was built as a test to see if people would like the design of the New Wrangler. They really have NO plans to build this.....which is sad.....I want one so bad!

The Jeep rumor mill has broken my heart too many times on too many things. I'll believe it when I see it.

How much of a market was there for the H3 SUT? I imagine demand for a similar Jeep would be only slightly higher.

DGthe3- I don't know if they compare exactly, but I know several people who have taken their jeeps and modified them into pickups. I wouldn't call it a common mod- but it's not rare. The CJ8 Scrambler in a halftop is one of the most desirable of the older jeeps. There's definitely a demand, but it's hard to tell how big it is.

i had an 88 Comanche that my uncle gave me as a hand me down. the thing nickel and dimed me to death but it was fun as hell. i had the 2wd version and i would take that thing off road through creeks and had no problems. towed my buddy's toyota pickup out of the mud with it too. i kinda miss it!
