1/4 mile time engineering analysis
Ever since I returned from the Camarofest I have been wondering "how hard" the car pulls thru the 1/4 mile. I have distance and speed data points from the time slips so I calculated acceleration at the 60', 330', 1/8 mile, 1000' and 1/4 mile. I used equations of motion based on "uniform acceleration". I assumed this is an acceptable assumption between the data points. I compared the calculated speed at the 1/8 and 1/4 vs the time slip and the results are within 5% so I am assuming the calculated results are reasonable.
All of that said, the car pulls at nearly .9g (25 to 28 ft/s^2) from launch to the 60 ft point and then falls to .26g from 60 ft to 330 ft and then increases to .38g at the 1/8th before falling off steadily to the 1/4. The 330ft point seems quite strange to me. I am guessing it is a shift point issue. What do you folks think? Does anyone data log acceleration info?

If you were able to maintain .39G acceleration for 167 minutes you could reach 11.2 km/s, which is the Earth's escape velocity, and go into orbit.
Does Craigslist have used astronaut suits? disclaimer: I based the math on a Marvin the Martian cartoon.
