Well...not that it matters, I like yours a little better, but I appreciate his for its simplicity. I'd shrink B's height down by about half and recenter the Camaro and tach, though...

If I had to pick one I would pick your dad's because it is simple and doesn't take up much space.

With that said your design has some great ideas. The tach is awesome and I like that you actually have an image of the car in the background. Yours is a lot easier to read. The fire and background color is also great in yours.

I suggest you do a rework and keep in mind "simple" and "easy for the audience to read".
