Alternative to Fantasy Sports

Hi guys,

I'm making this because I want to gauge interest for a Camaro5 stock market game, using http://vse.marketwatch.com/Game/Homepage.aspx

Basically, you are given fake money and you can buy and sell stocks in real time. Whoever can make the most money after a given amount of time "wins".

It seems interesting to me because I have always been fascinated with the market, and you can take gambles without having the real-life risk.

OK: So I made a game that we all can play. Make an account at the link above, and on the right hand side click "Find a game to join".

Then, search for: Camaro5-2010

The password to join the game is: chevy

You have 100,000 to invest, and you can also borrow 100,000.

GOGOGO make fake money

id be interested....im not much for sports (except some racing), so this could be something fun. ive got some stocks in real life, but have trouble actually committing to playing in the stock market because i dont have the money to lose! dont really care if there is anything to win!

i played something like this in highschool. we were in groups of 4. my group did good the first 2 weeks.....we started slipping after that and aimed to be dead last.....we came in next to last at the end of the time period! lol

at the very least it would give you an idea of how well you could do on the stock market BEFORE investing thousands of dollars (that is assuming that all the stocks you buy with the fake money are real).

It is actually quite real. They use real time prices for when you buy and sell stock. Also you can short sell stock (as long as it is on the NYSE, NASDAQ, etc). In addition, you can automate it so that it buys at a certain price and sells at a certain point. It can be quite involved.

it can make you happy too. I bought a random stock today and it went up 3.8%. I ended up making like $1,800 of fake money off of it.

Now are they going to fake arrest you, if you dump your stocks the day before they lose value

Nice selection of stock there. I'm going big on some risky investments... I'm hoping to make like 50% tomorrow.

So, if you guys play, maybe you can put a link to this thread in your sig so we can play against more people

Use to be a game like that years back called the RogueMarket you traded stock on Celbs or famous people dead or alive but some round about way it had real value, as it had roots from way back when.

I made a killing shorting Bill Clinton when he was prez.

it starts you off with $10,000

I had 68million in just a few months doing mostly short sells.

Was easy to follow and was easy to relate with over detailed company info.
LIke Tiger Wood would of been a great short sell not long ago.
