AT&T internet users BEWARE

AT&T internet users BEWARE

AT&T is migrating all their internet services and they have done a crappy job of telling folks about it.

And they will not auto migrate your account for you.

Around march 15, they will just delete everything.

I only found out by accident. I did get notices of changes coming but not on instruction that you must resign up as part of the migration or they nuke your account.

Which included being on hold for an hr, to get told to ignore the emails I never got to my other accounts.

One 20min stupid internet chat session where they told me I didn't know my own mothers maiden name.

Then the final call and 2 sec on hold for to get told to call back in 24hrs.

Starting to question of they want my money or not or anyone else for that matter.

Why would you not auto migrate customers with working auto pay billing???

OK 24hr has passed, I know I just posted that here but.....

GOD its nothing but a clusterF...

AT&T has sold all its users to yahoo

a 3rd rate search engine and internet provider, my speed has been cut in half [and its only $1 cheaper] and monster long hold time to get idiots on the phone that don't know anything.

Run if your an AT&T user.

I've had the same cell service for 14 years. It's gone through company after company and obviously is no ATT.

The iPhone is invaluable to my business due to the MobileMe feature that keeps all of our accounts and client appointments synced over the air. I can literally put info into Bonnies phone like phone numbers and appointments without her being there. Wherever she is I can add data to her phone. Priceless to me.

Gives us the freedom to conduct business without locking us to a location.

All of our data is backed up at all times this way through Apple.

I just called them and they said they aren't migrating anything. That they're not changing anything. That it must just be a victicious rumor.

AT&T Worldnet® Service - Customer Transition Information

General Information for Customers Affected by the AT&T Worldnet Service Discontinuation and Transition
AT&T is discontinuing AT&T Worldnet Service to better converge our Internet products and to create a more consistent customer experience. Therefore, you have been asked to transition your AT&T Worldnet account to AT&T Internet Service, to allow you to maintain your existing e-mail ID(s) and associated content. Your account will NOT automatically be moved to the new service so you must take action if you wish to maintain your AT&T account

The ATT move to Yahoo is nothing new. They have been notifying customers for a little over two years now about it. Sent out a ton of warnings to migrate your mailbox and change your accounts. If you didn’t receive those notices I would be pissed. If you ignored them well…..

I had to help a few family members with the transition 6 months ago. The process was extremely confusing for them.

Though this is internet stuff, not cell phone stuff.

cell phone internet n email is all different.

And they probably did this to speed up the cell phone side of things to keep apple happy and not open up their products to Version.

I don't know much about this stuff but I think were not talking the same thing. I thought you were talking about the AT&T Yahoo internet service I have at home on my computer. But I guess your talking something else. I don't know what Worldnet account is. Is that what you can get on your cell phone or something. I just know nothings going to change with my home AT&T Yahoo internet service according to them.

Although I have Verizon DSL they use Yahoo as their email engine - no problems that I recall when I have to update my SMTP from a verizon address to yahoo - worked seamlessly and no disruption to my @verizon.net email clients.

Good luck with the AT&T move to Yahoo...

I have ATT Uverse which has been powered by Yahoo since day one. There service has been spotty at times, my television will freeze or I was having issues with online gaming and it has even gone down a few times but their customer service has been great and to date any time I have an issue not only have they given me money off my bill or discounted my service but they have fixed it the same day or the next. Good luck getting that service from ComASSt, you call for a service issue with them and they take 5 days to come out, plus they aren't willing to assist with the price.

I never heard anything.

As of Dec18, 09 this is all they have sent me about it, to my main email account with them.

[How I found out is you get 6 other sub email addresses, that got the your about to be deleted message. Lucky I bothered to check them closer, then the usually delete all as its 99% spam on them sub accounts. But they don't bother to send me a letter or email to my main att.net account with them??? Guess that what I get for years of on time payments.]

Upcoming Changes to Your AT&T Worldnet Account

Dear AT&T Worldnet® Member,

To provide you with the best Internet experience possible, your current AT&T Worldnet service will be consolidated with our other AT&T Internet services in 2010. This will allow us to provide you with our most advanced features, as well as future enhancements.

In 2010 AT&T Worldnet will cease offering services; however, you will be eligible for comparable AT&T Internet Services. We are working to make sure that the process will be as seamless as possible - allowing you to move your AT&T Worldnet service to another AT&T internet service while maintaining your Worldnet email account and other important information.

In order to avoid any billing conflicts, there will no longer be a monthly charge for AT&T Worldnet on your bill, starting in December 2009. If you choose another AT&T Internet Services plan, charges will resume in accordance with your selected plan.

You don't need to take any action now, but be sure to check your email regularly for instructions on making the transition. All the details will be sent to the email address that we have on file for you. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 1-800-400-1447. [DON'T CALL 1hr hold times]

In the meantime, continue to enjoy your AT&T Worldnet service as you have in the past. We appreciate your membership and look forward to offering you an even better Internet experience in 2010.

Sincerely,
AT&T Internet Services
