Question Side Mirror Differences 2016-2019 vs 2020+

I've got 2020 ZL1 and I am looking to get the side mirrors on my car painted to match the ground effects and the hood insert. However I want to keep the original mirrors as is, so I've been looking at ebay to pickup some used mirrors I can get painted.

However a lot of the listings say the mirrors are for 2016-2019, and it looks like after some digging there might be a difference between 2019 and 2020 for the mirrors.

So checking some GM parts sites for a passenger mirror there is part number 84561626 that seem to have all the right options but under vehicle fitment say only 2016-2019 though it includes the ZL1. Then looking at 2020 plus cars the part number seems to 84788170 for the same thing.

However for the life of me I can't figure out what the difference is. especially since I thought the ZL1 was basically the same car throughout the entire 6th generation as it didn't get refreshed.

So my question and I am hoping someone might know, is what are the differences in mirrors from 2016-2019 cars to 2020+?

basically want to know if I find a mirror with all the right options(blind spot, heated, dimming) from a 2016-2019 car like a 2SS, will it work on my car? or is there really some actual differences and need to hunt down mirrors only from 2020+ cars?

Thanks!!

I can't say for sure, but for something like the mirrors I don't believe there is a difference. I think that because there were other differences mostly cosmetic from 2019 to 2020. Most parts suppliers just use that as a generic cutoff for everything. 2016-2019 and then 2020+

So just to add some follow-up information for others.

I ended up picking up 2 mirrors from ebay.
1 driver mirror from a 2019 2SS 1LE and one passenger mirror from a 2024 2SS 1LE, and from everything I can tell there are no differences between them(other than obviously the side they are for) or any differences to the original mirrors on my car.

After installation all functions seem to work just fine too memory positions, blind spot etc, though unsure about the heated option as warm here today.

So even though some online gm parts sites show that there are mirrors for 16-19, 20-23, and 24. It seems at least in my small sample size, that the mirrors from one year will indeed work on across years.

One little note though if you are replacing a mirror that I didn't see originally documented in the great thread here: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483340

Be prepared for some of the mirror studs/posts to come out of the mirror base. I had one mirror nut that was a tight fit, and when trying to loosen the nut, it actually unscrewed the post from the base of the mirror. I then had the damnedest time actually getting the nut off the post. I didn't have a set vice grips, and couldn't easily get enough grip with regular pliers on the post. So every time I tried to loosen the nut the post just spun. Finally got it unscrewed after way too long, and a lot of cursing. But I would recommend if replacing the mirror to make sure you have some needle nosed locking pliers available.

So hope all of this helps someone else in the future.

I swap my white 2020 2SS mirrors for a pair of black mirrors off a 2016 1LT. I just swapped the internals from my SS into the black ones and was done. The housings of the mirrors are the same. Thanks for sharing your info.

Breathe on it to fog it up then turn on your rear defroster
