Lurker from La, considering making the switch to a LT1

I’ve been a fan of muscle cars since I was a young kid. I’ve always had mustangs, a few dodges, and an appreciation for Camaros. I currently have a 2012 GT500 with about 31k on the clock. I’ve been considering getting rid of it for a new or newish LT1. My lack of experience with GM products makes me hesitate. None of them are perfect.. GM, Chrysler, and Ford all have their problems and issues… anyhow..just thought I’d say hello…

I’m sure no matter which forum I go to, they’ll all have their bias as to be expected..

A coworker has a 15 SS with quite a bit of work done to it.. a 2SS model.. guess it got me thinking on it again.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Whoa.. that’s one hell of a variety to choose from lmao…

I’ve been thumbing through threads on problems people have had.. and as every other forum I’ve visited.. if ya count the bad experiences along with the good ones.. there’s a 50/50 chance there’s a catastrophic failure.. but as we all know.. the downfalls always get more headlines than the ones that are trouble free. I really don’t have anything to be disappointed about with my current car.. factory recaro, nav, and performance pack car…

What’s peoples typical wait time for ordering a car? I kinda would rather do that than settle for whatever I can find locally.. if it’s several upon several months of waiting.. may just see if I can find something within a reasonable driving distance… the new 10spds are super impressive but I know how much I like rowing my own gears… I dunno, maybe a slightly used SS would be a better route than a stripped new LT1 model…

Took me 10 months to get my 2021 3LT, sigh.

If you have such a low mileage GT500, I would keep it if I were you. You are used to the higher HP and the supercharger, the base LT-1 probably won't be comparable with the skinnier rear tires. The market sucks right now, you have to shop around to find a MSRP deal on anything at a dealership. The ZL-1 may be a better upgrade coming from the GT500. I went from a 2010 SS to a 2022 LT-1 and it was a huge difference with the new platform and better engine.
