No clue. Might as well call the dealership and ask them.
All it does is add navigation, right? |

If they can, I bet that $495 add on becomes $2495 :|
Honestly, not worth it to get navigation that will be out of date before too long

I have a call into the dealership. I just wanted some Intel from you guys that might know something about it in advance.
It seems it’s only Navigation? But I want it if it’s available. |

Why? With Android Auto/Apple CarPlay what possible benefit does GM's 7 year old maps navigation provide?

GM Navigation will show up in the HUD. That's really the only advantage I see for it. It's not really worth the $495 upgrade imo. As for the original post, I do not believe it can be added by the dealer. |

My C7 had the nav and I was given 5 years of OnStar so I used the HUD turn-by-turn and it was one of those "kinda like it, kinda hate it things". From my vague memory it either displays the upcoming turn or RPM so if I'm driving hard (like 98% of the time) I will miss a shift every now and then because I'm so used to using the HUD tach it takes me a second to find the in-dash tach. The nav is also trash compared to Google Maps so it does WEIRD routing. Literally would add 5-20 minutes to my trips driving around Orange County for no reason and it would do this often enough I would second guess the directions anyway. With that said, in unfamiliar territory with many turnoffs, the HUD turn-by-turn is helpful since you don't need to keep looking down. |

Thing I hate about built in navigation for vehicles is they need to be updated yearly to keep up with road updates. There's another $100 or more wasted or be like my mother in law with her 2016 Equinox and GM not offer map updates anymore. Yes, they don't offer map updates on an "obsolete" head unit.
Some people want it and others don't. Which I totally understand but I'm one that won't ever get built in nav again when you can use your phone or purchase a Garmin for under $100 with lifetime, free map updates. Not trying to start a debate but giving my opinion. |

Man, at $495, if its something you want, I'd go for it. Thats the same cost as the add on when you build anyways.

The updates are a scam. I have not updated my 17 not even once and it still puts me spot on anywhere I need to go. Same with my 17 Hellcat. Even new housing developments that popped up since 2017 or new places, stores, etc. I'm all the way out here in Nebraska and my Nav puts me wherever I need to be without flaw. Do not update them. It is basically just giving money away.

I will say that on my escalade and suburbans, Ive had the opposite experience....the NAV sucked, and then I pay a hundred bucks for the new GPS software, and then its slightly better...still sucks lol
