The owner's manual only say GM Part No. 88861800. LI did some research and found this "Dexron III is being phased out as a product name. It is being renamed Manual Transmission Fluid and carries p/n 88861800 U.S. (88861801 Canada). If fluid p/n 88861800 U.S. (88861801 Canada) is not yet available when servicing a manual transmission or transfer case, Dexron III can be used in its place." Now i was wondering if it was the dexron 3 that you were using and if it had a particular brand i saw that a lot was using redline d4 atf which i believe i am using for the moment

Most all your brand name lubricants that meet the requirements will all work fine with no dire affects. Even folks such as myself, who uses non synthetic fluids, have found that the car will not implode because I do.
Take care of your automobile and perform the proper maintenance when required, and it will last a long time.

Change to the Red Line D4 ATF.
When the oil in the transmission was cold, the shifting second gear was wrong. After the oil was operating temperatures, the problem disappeared.
I attributed it to thick oil, which probably gets badly into moving parts with minimal tolerance.

After changing to the Red Line, the problem improved significantly.
So if ATF, for me only Red Line D4 (maybe Royal Purple).
