408 or 416 w/ ECS S/C

Wanting to build up the bottom end for my S/C build. Installing ECS 1500 w/ no restrictor plate, and with flex fuel. Have polluter cam, supporting mods currently, and so far that’s about it. Looking for best option/setup without dropping in a new block.

So far only looked at TSP and cost is between 1500-2300$ for parts. Looking to spend 4500$-5000$ MAX w/ labor and additional miscellaneous parts.

Thoughts?

If a new block is out of the question, then so is a 408. That stroker combination is based off of the piston hole being 4.030 and your stock ls3 block is already 4.065. So 416 is you're only option. Both 4.0 stroke cranks, same rods.

However, I will just mention this. Depending on your motors past life, and the machinist you use to do your build, they may recommend going 4.070. This bore size can be achieved with honing, not boring. So its cheaper. I would speak with your builder before you buy a stroker kit in 4.065. For the cost of the additional honing (light hone will be done either way), you should probably go 4.070. 418ci

Also might wanna check out Summit Pro LS forged rotating assemblies. They'll need a balance, but might save you some dough.

Summit wont disclose the manufacturer of these kits, but keep in mind that is probably just to safe guard the reputation of that manufacturer. Summit owns ALOT of companies.
They're good for 1000hwp too.

Thanks. Checked Summit out. Seems like the price for a full assembly is 100$-200$ less for the pro series. Would I just be able to swap out pistons/rods and get away with it? OR I’m assuming since it has to be balanced anyway, just get the crank done also.

If you don't mind the question, what power level are you shooting for to the crank? Include some ARP main studs in the mix if you plan to run more boost.

Well I’m trying to get 800 to the tire. I know a lot of stock internals/blocks have done it. Maybe with the forged internals, push it to 900-1000.

Some OEM rods and pistons can hold that power. If you have a LS3 or L92 block I'd do that with ARP Mains and run the stock crank and LSA rods with a good forged piston. Won't hurt your pockets much but that will let you hold that amount. If you are dead set on for a crank then look at Molnar. Priced fairly for what it is. What blocks and internals do you have to better help you.

Thanks, I’m looking for a balanced drop in, if there even is such a thing. I’m looking now at the Summit stuff that El suggested. Not too bad on price point.

On another thread that I posted in, my builder told me 7k for forged block, pistons, rods, own ls3 heads with my current cam and labor. Not too bad I think. The complete rotating assembly alone is 2200+- plus taxes, and the labor cost to get that to fit.

7K seems a bit high.

motor in and out $1500
rotating assembly about $3000 more or less depending on parts
Machine shop $1500 to $2000

even this seems a bit high from what I've seen some people get away with.

7k is for new everything with labor. Forged block/rotating assembly, and keeping my heads/cam.
