2016 2SS 100K+ Miles - Preowned

Hey Everyone,

Long time luker, first time poster.

I have a chance to get a GREAT deal on a used 2016 with over 100k miles.

just wanted to hear some thoughts/opinions on the matter.

Anyone know of how these bad boys run at 100k+ miles?

What should i look for/check when i take a look at it tomorrow?

Pretty excited at the chance to join the 6th gen club but i don't want my desire for a deal on a 6th gen 2ss to cloud my judgement.

Thanks in Advance!

No really a good price in my opinion. I've seen here prices on a 2SS with less than 40k miles around 20k.

Keep searching

It really depends how it was driven. If the car was not pushed hard, the V8 and drive train should last a long time. If was driven hard, forget about it. Still i would not consider anything over 50K miles myself. The price should also be less than 20K- perhaps 15 or 16K.

Wow. Great deal OP if the CarFax is clean. But... with the slow car sales for about $10K more you might be able to pick up a new LT1. It is everything an SS is except for some track stuff at a very low price. That is a lot more $$ though. But if $20K is all you can afford you would be getting a car that equals or exceeds an M4 in evert way. Your first mods could be going over everthing in the car. It is a marvel of engineering.

Might as well get a new one or go for lt1. Dealers make more money on used cars from what i know.

With all due respect, I wouldn't say an LT1 is anywhere close to a 2SS... It is a 2LT or maybe 3LT with the V8, really nothing more... There is a LOT missing from the LT1 that makes a 2SS...

If the car looks real clean like its actually been taken care of instead of a dealer detail job it might be a good deal. is it a stick or auto. Also put it on the rack and check for coats of rubber in the rear fender wells. If little or no rubber he was not doing a lot of burnouts and probably not abused. Could be a 100k miles of just highway riding. He may have just been a traveling salesman selling Singer sewing machines or ladies stockings and bras or something.

I believe he was talking more about the performance side and not the creature comforts. From what I understood from him he was comparing it to an SS that did not have the 1LE track package. The LT1 does share a lot of the same options as a non 1LE SS. They have the same hood, engine and trans options. The exceptions being the rear brakes of the LT1 are not equipped with Brembo four piston and the Tires and wheels will be different as well between the two trims. I do not know if the Engine, trans, diff cooling was part of the 1LE package or is standard on the SS. EDIT: Looked in my Brochure book that was given to me during the beginning buying stages and it said the LT1 trim had Engine coolant cooling but not the diff while the SS had both with trans cooling and the LT1 Convertible models had no cooling. When I have the chance I will look more into it because I have come across Brochures that have had mistakes before.

EDIT:2 Not sure why I went all out with that but there it is I guess lol.

I would not be in too big a hurry to buy this used car unless you get a fantastic price and/or some great warranty. You could drive off and the dealership could close Monday and stay closed for weeks.
That being said you could also use concerns about the current national crisis to negotiate a better price.
And you are correct that the margins on used cars are substantially better than new cars.
