Under Car Leds
So what are people's thoughts on the neon led's under the cars? I am considering this for car shows. Does this kind of thing void the car warranty? Does anyone know of a good company that sells these. It would be nice to find something controllable by a smart phone and something that could also light up the engine bay. I know they are illegal to drive with them on. It would be tight though it the car had some effect when started like the light could cycle around the base of the car once.
With the car under factory warranty I seem limited on what I can do to separate my car from the pack. I am also looking at possible engine appearance packages, like chromes covers etc. I figure that would not void my warranty. What have people under factory warranty done to stand apart and maintain warranty. I also don't have a ton of money , so no entire rim and tire package, etc.. |

Don't see a warranty issue...but think this through...

Check the laws in Virginia. They are illegal here in Georgia, although little is done unless you are being a dick, or get stopped for something else, then that gets stacked on there.

Anything after market hooked up to your electrical system, will give the dealership a BIG excuse for why your warranty claim for any electrical issue Is not valid!

on one hand... it is very 2000 Fast n Furious ...
but on the other hand, its your car dude, who cares if others dont like it. It does look great at night, and at car shows . 1. There are a few companies that offer RBG and and RGBW kits for the headlights. These allow normal white LED when driving, but can be controlled via smart phone to any color, patterns, etc for the daylight running lights 2. The really good underbody and engine bay RGB or RGBW kits are gonna be bespoke, custom kits done by a custom shop. usually will accept any IR or bluetooth RGB/W controller. If you are serious, I would find a good custom shop nearby and have them do it.

Originally, the whole purpose of LED lights under the vehicle is to make the car look as if it's floating on air when driving.....very few led setups have accomplished this....but it does look pretty neat when done right.

You’re in VA, same as me, stay away from it unless you want a court summons and hefty ticket.
Check out Virginia Code, Title 46.2: Motor Vehicles, Subtitle III: Operation, Chapter 10: Motor Vehicle and Equipment Safety, Article 3: Lights and Turn Signals. Virginia law restricts additional aftermarket vehicle lighting which includes neon underglow. It further restricts any flashing or rotating lights including underglow while driving and stationary on any public road. The real kicker is VA has additional restrictions that requires underglow to be covered as well as unlit. So even if you showed them off at say an auto show on private property, you’d have to cover them to remain legal on the roads. It’s just not practical. And even if that isn’t enough to prevent you from going down this path it’s also cheesy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

They are illegal in some states, as stated above, and cheesy, as stated above.
But then, I think tinted windows are cheesy too. Oddly enough, those are illegal as well. |

Well I am going to avoid the underneath LED's and find another way to personalize my car for show that will not void my warranty.
