Driving modes - V6 1LE
Unlike the SS 1LE, the V6 only has three driving modes.
Touring Sport Track Can some one explain the difference between the three in what it actually does. I personally can’t notice much of a difference. Is it just a change in responsiveness of the throttle? I know with track mode it turns off TC but that’s the only true difference I know. |

Steering assist, throttle mapping, and dual-mode exhaust opening times change with each mode. The breakdown and chart are in the Owners Manual under Driving and Operating: Ride Control Systems.

From the main screen you can separately control the exhaust. I had a noise limit problem at one autocross, and I kept the car in Competition mode, but put exhaust in Stealth mode and dropped my db reading from 94 to 86. However, stealth robs power, at a Speedway my vmax was about 133 in Stealth v. 138 in open exhaust mode. I was surprised to have such a difference.

The V6 1LE doesn’t have PTM nor 'competitive' mode. It does have Track Mode though. TC is not turned off in Track Mode. You can turn it off using the TC button above the Mode Selector toggle.
The Mode selection toggle switch controls: 1.NPP Exhaust 2.Steering Weight 3.Accelerator pedal response You can decouple the first two using the settings menues on the infotainment. I leave mine on: 1.Track exhaust (flaps still close in 6th gear which is fine) 2.Tour steering 3.I don't like the lag in the gas pedal in Tour and Sport, so I switch to Track most of the time. Hope that helps.

I autocross'd in sport mode and there was a significant lag from putting the hammer down on the gas pedal to the car actually giving it the beans. In Track Mode I don't experience that lag.

There is a competition mode if you press the traction control button twice waiting a second or two between presses and only in sport and track mode. My understanding is that it is related to traction and stability control. Default traction control and stability on; press the button once and traction control is off with stability full on; press twice and traction is off and stability control is less sensitive; hold the button down for 5-7 seconds (until the second light comes on) and everything is completely off.

Yes, do the double press. I have been in competition mode for every lap of autocross and track day that I've done. The screen tells you when you've entered the mode.

For what it is worth, I usually just have everything off for autocross. And in track mode for the linear throttle response.

Regarding throttle response, even in track it feels a little sluggish. I expected it to be more lively than it is in track mode the first time I tried it out. I do love my car though! V6 1LEs are awesome in IMO. I wish more people would give them a try. |

Track throttle mapping sucks for traffic and city driving, just way too lazy.

Maybe the SS has different throttle mapping than the V6 cars but it's definitely not like that in my 1LE. I refuse drive my car in anything but Track mode due to the amount of delay I find in the Tour and Sport modes.
