Blue Oreo!

Today my friends and I got together since the meet in Montgomery was cancelled. We had fun watching everyone slow down to look, take pics with there phones... it was great!

Tomorrow is a car show in Newnan, GA to help raise money for soldiers, so we are all going to enter it too! I will add pics of the Blue Oreo show tomorrow later!

Meanwhile... check out the pics!!!

It was great day! AND... as a last thing... we all drove through the local Chevy Dealer (That none of us bought from BTW). What a great day!

The following information was pulled from The Times-Herald newspaper, dated November 14, 2009

By SARAH FAY CAMPBELL

sarah@newnan.com

A car show to benefit the Adopt A Soldier program will be held in downtown Newnan on Nov. 22 -- and famed singer Chubby Checker will be a guest judge.

There won't be any categories for vehicles, said Jerry Cochran of the Adopt A Soldier program. Instead, there will be three awards given.

Checker, best-known for his 1959 cover of "The Twist," will pick his favorite out of all the cars, trucks and motorcycles entered in the show. Linda Kee, director of business development for the city of Newnan, and Mayor Keith Brady will also choose their favorite vehicles.

Registration is $25 per vehicle; all vehicles are welcome. Registrants will be eligible for a variety of door prizes, as well as a 50/50 cash drawing. All proceeds benefit Adopt A Soldier.

The car show runs from 2 to 6 p.m.

There will also be a twist and hula hoop contest for the kids, and Checker will be the contest judge, Cochran said.

"This is going to be a good, fun-for-everybody type show," Cochran said. "We want everybody to enjoy it."

There will be a DJ playing music all day, said Cochran. You may pre-register or register at the show. For more information, contact Cochran at 770-328-4763 or jcochra6@bellsouth.net.

Adopt A Soldier is a Coweta County volunteer program that sends care packages to soldiers with a Coweta connection serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Items for the care packages can be dropped off at any Newnan or Coweta fire station each Thursday. For more information, or to sign up your soldier, contact Cochran.

Checker will be in town Nov. 22 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Twist." The day has been declared "Chubby Checker Day" in Newnan.

Checker and his band, The Wildcats, will perform live at The Alamo on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

A few tickets, at $75, are still available. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

A pair of tickets will be given away today by raffle drawing.

The $1 raffle tickets are being sold at various downtown Newnan shops through 11 a.m.

Car Show

OK... we had the show today. It was a little disappointing. Chubby Checker came to judge our cars. The weather was not very good but three of CAMARO5's best were there. Red, White and Blue... side by side. We were there to support the adopt a soldier fund raiser they were having. We all have CLOSE connections to the military (retired, spouse & served). ANYWAY... Chubby comes out... photo op, says a few words, said he liked the caddy and goes to look at the cars. He did not even slow down as he past our cars! I was going to ask him to sign our entry signs but he did not even make eye contact with me standing at the front wheel of my car. The real old cars won. One of them was an old green pickup with bad paint!

ANYWAY! Here are some pics of the meet! Enjoy!

Hope you all like the pics! We still had the most people around our cars! We win!
