New, Soon to be owner (hopefully!) from ATX
Hey everyone! New member from Austin, TX here. I currently have a 2014 Ford Mustang V6 6MT. It's been a fun car, but with only 45k on the clock I've already ran into a few issues that have made me felt "meh".
So far I've tested a 2.0t with a manual and auto as well as a V6 auto (the SS is out of my price range). I actually prefer the 2.0t auto so far. While the V6 is more powerful than my current car, it feels too similar. I love the feeling of the boost kicking in at higher RPMs. The auto in this thing is actually pretty damn good, and traffic is getting worse by the minute here in Austin. I feel like the paddle shifters are a good compromise for the times that I want to have fun. I'm pretty dead set on getting one in Hyper Blue Metallic, it reminds me of the Mirabeau Blue on my old Genesis Coupe and it looks awesome in every sort of light (even overcast). I hope to be trading in my Mustang this week. I'll be taking a hit, but I'm rolling out into a lease so I don't have to deal with this depreciation crap again :P I'm not going to do any crazy mods (or at least I'm telling myself that :P) Probably just an intake, tune, catch can (when one comes available) and maybe a Magnaflow axelback. I consider myself a "car guy", I'm not super mechanical, but I love cars and am able work on my own car to a certain extent :P I hope to meet some cool people and learn new things

Welcome! Definitely lots of good things going for the cars you're considering. The Camaro just has a great way of wrapping around you and has that re-assuring "I've got your back" vibe. Good luck and enjoy, lots of great info here.

Thank you! I did want to mention that the handling on the 6th gen is sublime! I wasn't expecting anything special with the Alpha platform, but I was thoroughly surprised by how tossable and the amount of grip this thing had.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

![]() If you like forcing your brain out your ears as much as I do take note. The 2.0T will not have the 1LE handling package as an option while the V6 will for mid-year 2017. You may want to hold off for next spring. |

Also, I prefer the power delivery of the 2.0T over the V6. The V6 has a more linear, subtle power band while the 2.0T kicks in at higher gears. Looking at the numbers the V6 is superior, but the 2.0T satisfies my inner-child more :P I also feel that it was stupid that Ford's "Eco"-boost's boost kicks in at lower rpms. I like the option of being able to putt around town to keep fuel consumption down, and only start sucking down gas when -I- want to. Don't get me wrong, the idea of smacking down V8 Mustangs with only 6-cylinders at the track is indeed tempting :P I should also probably wait until near the end of year for any promotions before making a purchase, but the urge is strong :P Quick question, most dealers have the 2.0T fitted with the RS Package, while I found one that is a Base with only the Tech Package. I feel that I would get more use out of the Tech Package, but wanted y'all's thoughts. My main concern with the RS package is the added cost of 20" tires and the fact from my own experience lower profile tires (40 or lower) tend to be a magnet for curb rash. The added aesthetics are nice (though, admittedly I'm anti-chrome). Keep in mind that I'm planning to Lease so the monthly payments won't be too much different if they're able to discount it well enough. |

Well, after running around and having dealerships going back, I ended up getting a 2017 Camaro 2.0T in Hyper Blue. It's a pretty much a "Base" model with the Technology Package. Unfortunately I immediately came down with a nasty cold and haven't been able to enjoy it too much.
Here are some poorly taken pictures: Initial impressions is this car feels way more "luxurious" and better put together than my Mustang. It also does a better job of soaking up the potholes while still being better at handling. The "navigation" was probably the biggest letdown. I thought it would be something similar to a full-featured system like iGO/Garmin/etc. But you basically have to use either an app or call OnStar to set up a destination. It also appears that it's an added feature and will no longer work unless I pay up after the trial ends. Last edited by ThePandaSmuggler; 11-16-2016 at 09:46 AM. |

Congratulations on the new Camaro! For some reason your pics would not display on my computer so I could not see the beast but I know very well how awesome the 6G Camaro is. Good for you!
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I'm now down to an annoying cough so hopefully the worst is over. The 6g is great, but I'd easily take a Z/28 over it if I had the chance :P |
