"Roar" of Ages...

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Modesto, CA (where I live) people "cruise" a street named "McHenry", they go up & down this street from about sun down, till midnight. The street stretches across the entire city...so people can show off their cars. Doing this is illegal, however, everybody knows there isn't enough cops in town to enforce this law. (reason for it being illegal is because there were several incidents where people were severely injured or killed due to street racing, gang violence, etc.)
Anyway, earlier tonight I was working security at a local Honda dealership (which is on McHenry)..it was about 11PM (Friday), I hear this extremely loud roaring from down the street. I'm always hearing tons of roaring engines, but this time seemed different.
I wait, to see what kind of cars it was cruising through..I of course didn't have to wait Too long as they were speeding down the road.
As they begin passing the Honda dealership I notice an early 4th gen black camaro. (Camaro's are somewhat rare to see, no clue why, but I've seen more & more recently as it draws closer & closer to the production 5th Gen)

Anyway, I think to myself- "1 car can't make THAT much noise", and of course I was right..
There was a 3rd gen right behind the 4th, and a 2nd gen sped up to right beside the 4th, and behind the 2nd gen was of course, a first gen. All very very well kept, sounded VERY nice, all v8's as well.
loudest bunch of cars I've heard since I've worked there.
There was a Firebird behind the 4 camaro's, and a bunch of Acura Integra's going the opposite direction, and awesomely enough - you could NOT even hear the Integra's..of which I know to be EXTREMELY loud because they pass by all the time. I was like
It was just totally freakin awesome.

Btw there are "clubs" of cars, such as this one 4-car Firebird club, theres of course Mustangs as well, TONS & TONS of Civic / Accord / Integra clubs..
street bike clubs as well as your typical Harley club. giant lifted trucks..
thug'd out old caddies/buicks, etc etc.
I see a camaro every now & then.. but to see all 4 generations of camaro's all grouped together like that revving their V8's that loud was just great.

Anyway I just thought I'd share that...it really put a smile on my face. I can't wait till the 5th gen is out...

how old is that?.. cuz this cruising has been around since forever, in Modesto...

American Graffiti is a 1973 comedy-drama film directed by George Lucas, and written by Lucas, Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck. The film stars Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Paul Le Mat, Charles Martin Smith, Cindy Williams, Candy Clark, Mackenzie Phillips and Harrison Ford. Set in 1962 Modesto, California, American Graffiti tells of the exploits and adventures of a group of teenagers during a night of cruising around town and listening to pirate radio personality Wolfman Jack.

(I believe it's been happening since way before 1962)
George Lucas is from Modesto too btw, but he never visits here, lol, honestly I don't blame him. 0_o
