Late Christmas Present!
So, I got stuck between a 6" speed hump and a couple cars behind me. Splitter would of scraped before the front wheel started going up. So I did my best to pull over as far as I could to let them past so I could back up, and re-route.
This is where my present comes into play, from the curb. When I was backing up I must of just brushed it because I didn't feel it. Thoughts? The guy wants $150 to fix it. Tire removal, acid dip, fill, paint/clear, and remount/balance. Or, should I just buy a new rear rim. I have never rashed a wheel before or had one repaired. The car sees track time so I want to make sure it will be okay. Anything special as far as unmounting and remounting the tire? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rim will be fine. Unfortunately I know. Once repaired you'll never know it happened.

Yeah, that's easy to fix, but still sucks. 6" speed bumps..wow... haven't seen any that are close to that height in Dallas!

Yes, easy to fix by a professional rim repair business. A lot cheaper than a new rim, and since it's not to deep, you will have to look hard to find it afterward. (Like others, I know)

$150 Seems steep, I road rashed one of my AG wheels on my audi and they were a gun metal cooler, I found a guy fairly local on yelp known for his wheel repair and he grinded the rash all smooth and then paint matched it almost perfectly. When he was finished you'd never know it happened by looking at it. For something that size (similar to how bad mine was) I believe it was more like $60.

Late Christmas Present!
Man, thanks for the insight fellas. I was kinda worried about it but I guess it will go ahead and pull the trigger.
I have a temporary fix action installed... They are not speed bumps to say, it's like a plateau, 6" up in about a foot, about 3' across in the middle, and back down 6". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd rock the sharpie fix. Sucks this happened. Ive seen some wheels that were scuff be fixed with a dremel and sanding tube.

the sharpie fix looks good.
I have picked up several paint chips on the rims on different parts of the wheel and just touched them up with a gloss black touch up pen and it looks fine. i know it sucks when you first rash a wheel though! |
