fordsparkplugsettlement.com

Having owned a 2006 Ford f-150 Harley Davidson edition 5.4 liter rolling turd once I traded it after re installing the vinyl, adding some rubber to the nice wheels, and shortly after owning it having to have the spark plugs changed out that were supposed to last 100,00 miles.... yeah I always thought that was hokie.

SO one day driving the message came on misfire on cylinder# what ever, turns out the spark plug cracked on its own. I knew the f-150s before that had the two valve heads and were garbage having not enough threads for the plugs in the heads thus they were spitting sparkplugs at their leisure causing helicoils or worse....And their frames were worse. I hoped the Triton heads were better yet....

I had to buy 20$ two piece sparkplugs that were so long they informed me the tip of the plugs had to be coated they now determined with crap to keep them from forming too much carbon and cracking when removed... and the life estimate was now down to about 60k... SO The dealer pulled the plugs on this beauty and four broke off in the head the tips thus having to vacuum out and camera the cylinders.

Cost of the spark plug change was $627 and change. That's when I determined I was going to ditch the POS Ford. 300 h.p. and 300 ft. lbs rating made it mediocre, the next year they supercharged it.... I traded it for my first Camaro a 2011 2ss/rs triple black vert the best on the lot.
I was suckered in to look for a ruby red manual coupe which of course was long gone... SO here it is years later on my second gen 5, and in the mail I get a letter from Ford, saying there is a settlement being worked out to recoup costs for those consumers having had problems with their 5.4 engine spark plugs. It says costs over $300 are rated on % you get 25% at 3-500 for the costs over $300 and 50% for costs up to like 750 , then 75% above that.

I talked to the local ford got a print out from their computer and did scan and attached the receipt and expect about $163 back eventually after settlement and did it via computer.

I thought you all ought to know and could spread the word as not everyone who ever owned a Ford affected may be contacted to try to give money to us for their crappy product. http://fordsparkplugsettlement.com/

It affects these products their most popular of course:

2004-2008 Ford F-150 trucks2005-2008 Ford Expeditions2005-2008 Lincoln Navigators2006-2008 Lincoln Mark LTs2005-2008 Ford Super Duty trucks (F-250 and F-350)
SO if you know as I did some other poor Ford owner that drives one of these let them know, and if you own one: I am sorry, good luck to you.

I think I should have been compensated everything above the cost to replace, yet Lawyers have to make a living apparently off of us....... Or Ford owners...lol

I had an 06 F-150 with the 5.4 3v. When I came time for a plug change I did it myself. I bought the special tool for $50 to extract any broken 2-piece plugs. I had to use it once. Pulled all 8, replaced with $12 Champion 1-piece plugs, . . . took 6 hours, that was fun.

Truck was stolen and totalled so I replaced it with a '13 FX4 EB.

I got the same letter yesterday.

Thank you ....my 2005 expedition cost me almost $1100.00 to have ford wring 4 plugs off in the heads and then extract them...they told me how lucky I was that they had the extraction tool, otherwise I'd have to have the heads replaced.....I saved my receipt in hopes of a class action lawsuit....whoop whoop

I have blown out 2 spark plugs in my 2002 Ford Escape V6... It's a common issue on those but too bad they aren't on the list

Yes hunter you should get 75% of anything over $300 so that's nothing to sneeze at, heck they even give $50 for people that can just prove they owned the POS...lol

And imagine the wonderful 5.4 was bored out more to make the 5.8 for those Shelby gt 500's, or course I imagine eventually they got the heads right?????????? lol

Well , those little bastards ( lawyers ) still have to keep up with their student loans you know , and you may also know , or should have know that to become a lawyer it's not easy nor cheap , and that on the end someone will have to pay for it
And so , that the best University's in the country can continue to pay like ?500K per year for their football coach's , it's just a little game that we all play , and very few even know about it
PS , Enjoy yours $136 , get 3 full tanks a gas in your camaros and go for a ride !

Yeah, the 2v's had 4 plug engagement threads, so plugs would shoot out of the heads from time to time. Had to helicoil a head for my brother's 99GT.

This covers the 3v's craptastic 2-piece plugs that were over torqued into the heads from the factory. They had a tendency to snap in half upon removal. Happened so often Ford had a tool specifically designed to remove the broken plug halfs from the head.

I run a car lot and found out about the plugs on a '06 Expedition with the 5.4! I have never seen a plug that long. The plugs will break and it takes a special tool that keeps the broken parts from going into the head. Hence, a very expensive tune up! Is this the same for the 4.6?

They weren't over torqued, carbon deposits would get on the long tip of the plug and cause it to stick in the head. Fords tool was a joke and half the time it didn't work. Lisle makes a tool that works but it breaks the porcelain off into the cylinder.

The trick to getting the plugs out is to get the engine hot and use a 3/8 impact gun and they'll come right out. De carbonizing the engine with a can of sea foam also helps.

My 03 5.4l Expedition shot one out about 4 yrs ago. $500+ for thread repair from dealership. And another a yr ago. $35 kit from the auto store and repaired myself. Need a payout for the 2 valve heads too.
