Ugly. Not sure why Shelby American keeps putting the same hood/ground effects on their aftermarket cars and expecting it to look good. That hood looked good on the GT500KR and that is where it should have stayed. I don't car how much power it has, the reworked S197 styling on the S550 chassis looks horrible.

I love the new 2015 Mustang. Traded my Camaro in on one but 90 Grand for a super charged mustang is insane. Love Carroll and his legacy but Ford just needs to bring back SVT and call this car a Cobra for half the price!

Love it without the hood. Doesn't fit with the current mustang design.

This car has NOTHING to do with Ford other than they use the S550 as a starting point. No different than the cars Lingenfelter and Hennessey build from the Camaro platform.

So your saying you agree with me??? Cut out the middle man and past the saving on to the ford performance car enthusiast. Ford pockets more profits buy just building a car like this in house.

I think it looks pretty nasty! It'd have to be black though. That maroon color just doesn't cut it.

Geez, that's more than I'd be willing to spend on a mustang.

No, I'm not agreeing with you. How on earth did you come to the conclusion that Shelby American is a middle-man? And what savings would you be passing on? You cannot buy this car from Ford, you buy it from Shelby American in Las Vegas.

I also disagree that, in the case of the previous generation GT500 and 6thGen GT350, having the Shelby name on the car made the car any more expensive that it would have been had they simply sold it as simply an SVT Cobra.

Ford could build this car for 65K ala the Dodge Hellcat. No need for the Shelby name on the car. You have two company that are making a profit with Shelby America involved. You really don't think Ford could do what Dodge has done??? Come on, over 88 grand for a Mustang with a bunch of ford performance parts added that you can order right now out of their catalog. Your paying for the Shelby badges.

You're making my brain hurt. Let me spell this out for you. Shelby American buys S550 Mustangs from Ford and then modifies them and sells them as Shelby Super Snake Mustangs. (Or you can bring them your own Mustang GT and have them upgrade it, for a hefty fee). Ford gets no profit from the sale of that car or a conversion and has ZERO to do with its design or badging. The only money they made was in selling them the base car on which the SS is built.

Yes, Ford can build a high-horsepower Mustang aka the HellCat. It is likely on it's way with a S550-based GT500. And that car will not cost a dime more if it is called a Shelby GT500 instead of an SVT Cobra.

Ok your being willfully dense. If you think one of the biggest auto manufactures in the world could not build a car cheaper themselves on their assembly lines then having a secondary boutique company like Shelby America bolt on after market parts by hand. I don't know what to tell you? I understand Shelby buys S550 Mustangs from Ford and then installs Ford racing catalog parts on it at a gigantic profit. I don't even know why you keep bring that up? It's like have a conversation with a child with you. You have to be old enough to remember the 2003-2004 Mustang Cobra? It was a completely in house built car. It came with a super charged V8 and was built with a IRS!!! That's right a completely redesigned suspension! Is Shelby America completely redesigning the S550 suspension? No but you'd think they are by the money they are charging! Shelby isn't designing anything! They are flipping open the Ford Racing Catalog and bolting on parts! You could do that in your driveway. THE COBRA HAD A STARTING PRICE OF $34,750!!!!!! Inflation hasn't increased $34,750 into $88,700 (cost of a super snake) in ten years!!!! The Super Snake has less design content when you compare it to a 2004 Cobra but costs considerably more! Ford COULD build and sell the car for 65-70K. They don't need Shelby!

You're calling ME dense?! That's a riot.

Why do you keep bringing Ford Motor Company into the equation? Ford/SVT has been building high-performance Mustangs badged with the Shelby name in-house since 2007. ALL Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350 Mustangs are Ford products, built on the same line as every other Mustang made in the same time period. During this same period of time (2007-current) Shelby American has ALSO been building Mustangs badged with the Shelby name, and charging MUCH more money for them than Ford was charging for the in-house GT500. How does what SA charges a customer for a SuperSnake have any bearing on what Ford charges for a Shelby GT500 or Shelby GT350? The answer is, it doesn't.

Ford built/continues to build cars using the Shelby name for much less than what SA charges for their cars, so there should be no speculation as to whether or not they could build a similar vehicle for less money. Could Ford built a 750HP Mustang for considerably less than what SA is charging for this SuperSnake? No doubt, but that is not going to change the fact that SA is going to continue to build their version of the Mustang and charge whatever they feel the market value of the car should be. They have been doing it concurrently with the Mustang in-house offerings from Ford for over a decade.

If you don't want to pay $88K for a S550-based SuperSnake from "parts order from the FRPP catalog", I get it. Neither do I. But why do you continue to vilify Ford for using the Shelby name on their in-house built automobiles? It's not like the MSRP would be any lower if they didn't.

Your posts make it sound like Ford outsources the building of high-performance Mustangs with the Shelby name on them to Shelby American instead of building them in-house. That is about as far from reality as you can get.
