Need a Helmet...please help

I need to get a helmet and would appreciate advice on type, brand, cost.
May be interested in a used one if available.
Thanks in advance for your help!

SA-2010 is the current spec, but the SA-2015 spec is due out soon (not sure when). I suggest that you check with all of the tracks and organizations that you might run with. A full face helmet may be required.

$300 still buys a full face Simpson Voyager (has a large eyeport). If you're an SCCA member there may be a discount available.

I just purchased this bargain, and whilst it is not a well known brand, it has a SA2010 rating, and it looks and feels good enough for my occasional track or drag efforts.

What is a SA2010 spec helmet with a real low profile? I am a taller guy and I am afraid my head will hit the ceiling in the ZL1 -- I don't have a sunroof so that adds a bit of clearance, but I can't seem to find one without leaning the seat too far back for comfort.

I went with an SA-2010 GForce Racing full face and Sparco Jade SFI 3-5 jacket. Less than $250 in the whole set. Fits and looks good!

Put the seat as low as possible and just accept the limited outward vision. You will be fine!

I have the Bell Vador with a blue chrome visor bought from SafeRacer as well. Great site and competitive pricing.

There are a lot of nice helmets on the market but don't buy a used one. Most tracks won't let you use a helmet that is older than 5 years.

I bought a GForce open face helmet before they released their new carbon fiber full face. If you are only going to use the helmet a few times a year for track days, I suggest the open face model. if you are going to be more serious about track use then go with the full face. I purchased from Summit Racing, great company to deal with and immediate shipping.

so my research tells me that the SA-2015 helmets will be out in october, do you guys think rules will change from SA-2010 to SA-2015 starting at the beginning of race season 2016?? Or 2010 will be passable for a year or two?

I am looking to buy a new one but would hate to spend the money and only get 1 race season to use it
