Plasti Dip question

This picture is the roof of my wife's Silverado. The rest of the truck is fine, but the roof of the cab looks horrible. I want to prevent it from further issue, or at least slow it down, without having to spend money having a professional paint fix.

For those who use plastic dip for things, what is your opinion? Would it be possible and viable for me to mask off the roof and then spray on the plastic dip to seal it in and improve the looks?

What are the pro's and con's of such a process?

You can try it out to see if it covers the area well. I use it on many areas on my car and it looks great. just did the mirrors a week ago and shot glossifier on it as well looks great

If you don't like it just peel it off. make sure you get a nice thick coat on it incase you want to remove it. It's cheap and works remember when masking off if you spray the dip right up to the tape you have to remove when wet. I always spray on area where I do not want painted on edge then just peel from the edge if that makes sense. It should look much better after you are done

Wow, thanks for that tip. I would not have thought of that. You probably just saved me some agony.

I'm thinking black, since I can't duplicate the vehicle's color. The bed liner in the truck is black, so I figure that it will match somewhat. More than anything, I just want to protect it from the elements. I have too many "fun" cars to spend too much on this truck, but the truck runs fantastic and my wife loves it, so I don't want it to start rotting out. We put so few miles on our vehicles that they literally last forever.

I just dipped my entire Ducati ... Again lol

Definitely will do the trick
I sprayed mine with a few coats of Meguires ultimate spray wax and made the dip even more durable
