What used truck should I get??

I know this is a chevy fan forum so the responses may be biased a bit but I am looking for a used mid 90's to early 2000's extended cab 4x4. Looking at a Chevy S-10 or GMC Sonoma, Toyota Tacoma or a (gasp) FORD Ranger. Does anyone have some honest opinions about these as far as reliability goes, build quality, etc. I don't want/need a FULL size truck for the v-8 gas mileage.
This is gonna be a daily driver in the winter while my Camaro rests away from the salt, snow and crazy damn D.C. Metro drivers.

The Tacoma would probably be your best bet (of the three you listed).

honestly. i do like the older Tacomas.

Out of the 3 you listed:

1. Tacoma
2. Sonoma/S-10
3. Ranger

Have you considered Dodge Dakota. That would also be in the class you are considering.

Hard to tell..

Look up my saga with Christine and that's what you'll expect with a Ranger. Sonomas and S-10s I didn't like and honestly still prefer the Fords. Dakotas and Early Tacoma/Hilux pickups are also win.

So:

T-100 (Ext cab if you can find it)
Ranger Ext Cab 4x4 (NO ELECTRONIC TRANSFER CASE!!!)
Dakota Ext Cab 4x4
Sonoma/S10 Ext Cab 4x4

Always go with the extended cab. Comes in handy. Would have picked up an Ext Cab Ranger if I didn't get a deal (2k under sticker at the GM used lot) on Christine back in '05. Gas mileage on those were the kickers. Though, looking back it's not much different than my dad's '04 Silverado HD

Still, I would kill for a mid 90s K2500 over the Ranger chassis.
