Be careful when renting a Camaro

I have read on here where people have reserved a Camaro SS rental and ended up with a V6 even though their paperwork says Camaro SS. Well look at this from the Hertz website. Even Hertz isn't sure what they are renting you.

Ah yes..the supremely rare V6 SS (Semi-Sport as opposed to Super Sport)...almost as rare as the "Camero" edition.

My Enterprise rental (while cosmetic work was being done) was a V6. Come to think of it, not sure I've seen a V8 rental on the roads around here. Last time might have been in Vegas April 2014.

But was it listed as an SS? That's where I would throw a fit. Thinking I was renting one car but given something else. False Advertizing.

They probably wouldn't know the difference, just read what was in the computer.

I don't remember which rental company I used a couple of years ago by the Oakland airport but when I asked about a v8 camaro they had told me because of the higher octane gas needed that they would not rent it out because the customer would put the lower octane gas in it. So I got a v6 instead. Was impressed with it. Now the wife owns one.

I was out in Vegas in 2013, and rented a Camaro. It's actually what got me hooked on getting a Camaro, and it was a V8. Granted, I didn't deserve it, my crappy 4 banger rental broke down, and I asked for one I knew was a V8. They can definitely be had, although I figure they're only at select locations. I think they had a CTS-V, a 911, and maybe Ferrari on pedestals.

It was never discussed, since I was just glad to be essentially driving the same car while mine was getting its face lifted. Just not seen a V8 rental (ever?) around these parts.

Happened to me on my honeymoon.

Got to the rental counter, they said "yeah V8 SS Camaro" I go out to get in it and im like, wait a min. I go back inside and they say oh, you want the V8, I said yeah, thats what you told me. They come back and say oh its another $400 for the week. I said forget it. Ill drive mine when i get back home.

V6 wasnt bad to let the new wife drive. She wont drive the SS, she is afraid to screw something up. I said thats fine with me!!!
