Rought Idle
My 5 day old C7 runs great, and I could not be happier with the car. However, when stopped at a light the engine has a rough idle. The car shakes, or shudders, a little, and the stick shift can be seen vibrating. I don't mean to make this condition worse than it really is, but I have other cars with V-8 engines that are perfectly smooth at idle.
Is this normal, or should I have the dealer look into this condition? |

I have 1800 plus miles on my 2015 c7 7spd. Has idled smooth since day 1. Nothing like you are describing.

Rough Idle
2 things on this rough idle.
1. Many posts have reported that they have found a spark plug wire off or loose at the spark plug. This was mainly 2014. 2. Depending on how rough the idle is G.M. stated in a article that they intentionally made the engine idle a little rough on purpose because that is what the typical Corvette wanted. Just repeating what G.M. stated. |

As I stated on another response to my HUD tilt problem, I went to the dealer today and had their Corvette maintenance expert look at my engine while it was at idle. His only comment was the engine must be working correctly or there would be a fault display to take the car in for service. I guess, as route66 mentioned above, this must be a design "feature".

The rough idle is a design feature. I love it.

A couple of months ago I sat in two C7's back to back to hear the difference in NPP. Both idled about the way my Formula does, which is slightly rough as described above. Personally, I like it. My understanding, at least for the Formula, is this is based on the choices GM made on the CAM grind. Apparently they sacrifice a little "comfort" for performance and one place it eeks out is in idle.
