Are you concerned about the Government putting an end to V8's?

I kind of am. I fail to see why we need fuel efficient cars when the average Joe is going to buy a more fuel efficient car than a V8 sports car or truck anyways. It's dumb to take away the very thing that makes a sports car a sports car in an effort to get good fuel economy out of cars.

That's not stopping me from popping an LS7 inside my future LT/RS though. I'll fight it to the end if I have to.

That is EXACTLY why I took a risk with a first year Camaro at 426 hp. One of 2 things will happen soon. A premium added to V8's and/or reduction in horsepower.

I'll take my 2010 Camaro with or without problems.

I think a ban, HP or displacement restriction is coming down the tubes for V8's, just a matter of when...

So, get your pre-ban Camaro SS's Before it's too late!

No, I think it will be like cigarettes. They'll just tax the V-8 into extinction!

This whole Fuel Economy to cut down on Global warming is BS. There is no proof that this is causing the global warming issue. If that were the case, why are Mars Ice Caps melting as well?

As long as Chrysler is still selling their 13 mpg city / 18 mpg hwy SRT8 models the 16/24 MT Camaro is safe... I mean it gets 20% better city mileage.... I figure the SS will stay as is for at least a few years.

I really doubt they will quit making them. maybe they will limit the power but thats about it. Its you look at history cars of the 60's and early 70's were beasts and had all kinds of HP then gas was scarce and stuff happened and that power went away remember those 135 or 150HP V8's in some of those late 70's camaro, or whatever the number were. And really late 70's to approx. the 80's there wasn't a lot of power in cars was there? So if they limit us in the next few years we should at least be back to normal by 2025 or 2030. Everything runs in cycles.

like the guy said a couple post above me, there is no way they'll stop making a v8, however restrictions and/or taxes will be a definent increase.

This will be one interesting area to watch for the future.

A lot will depend upon fuel economy numbers, fuels used (E85 or whatever may come down the pike).

I wouldn't say any direct bans as mentioned earlier) but the market will eventually put its imprint on this one way or another.

Personally, I could care less as long as the vehicle I wanted had the type of performance the 2010 Camaro SS has.
