Z/28 blows C7 away !
A really nice guy let me drive his C7Z51 a couple of miles.
My impression of that car is that it is very cramped on the inside, with 8 million display options, and an overpowering epoxy smell that I couldn't handle. Z/28 is raw and visceral with handling prowess. C7 is an amazing bargain in a more parking friendly car. Z/28 far more unique and special with a more comfortable and spacious interior----C7 is like a video game inside and out. Z/28 is a special car ....a special experience. (Of course this is a Camaro forum ) |

Glad to hear your read on this. Of course, the Z06 will be a completely different animal, but that's not an option for me. I've had people argue with me about the the fact that I can't buy a Corvette/Stingray because I don't fit. It's always the, "my brother-in-law is your height and he fits" argument. I don't fit, period -- but the Z/28 works for me. I'll try it soon with a helmet, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the headroom. The only issue I have is that my legs are so folded that I really don't like the combination of this and the clutch action -- it makes it difficult to be smooth as the clutch throw is far too long for me. I'll discuss this with my Service Manager next Tuesday, just in case they can adjust this...

One is a 2 seat sports car, the other is a 4 seat GT car. At least GM makes a sports car. I am very surprised Ford does not make a sports car??

I realize there are folks who might want to take along their small kids -- but the rear seats in the Camaro are not much use for transporting normal human beings older than 6, I'm guessing. At least not with me driving, as the back of my seat is touching the front of the rear seat. Anyone convert the rear area to a parcel shelf?

Ugh that car is fantastic. One of the few things Ford has done correctly.

Such an amazing car. I would own one in a heart beat if I could afford it.
They did have a few quirks. This was one of my favorites.

have not ridden in a C7(unsure how cramped you say it is)..but my C6 is fairly comfortable(glove-like) compared to my G5.

I would expect a Suburban would have more open room inside the cabin than a sports car. That's kind of the point though.

Ford has never been that successful at selling sportscars. Chevy makes serious coin selling Vettes, and still does. Only 1 year out, which was a changeover year for the C3/C4, 1983. If you don't count that hiccup in production, it is perhaps oldest continuous sportscar model in history. 61 years?

Ford GT needs to be 70k-90k price mark so consumers can actually buy it and own one in their lifetime

Z-28 Comparisons...

Bloody raw is how your visera will feel without a kidney belt on a rough road... Bargain C-7 ? yes, but did you back the C-7 into a parking spot? No rear view. Spacious Z/28 interior - not for a "four seat" car. 'Mustnag' wins here. OH, C5 forum, my bad. Video game inside and out - give the kids what they want, right? I always liked driving better. Special car, experience - can't argue that, too vague. It does have a certain panache; for a Chevy. Special price, though. When do we get to try the elephant in the room? You ARE going to do a Z/28 vs GT500 comparo now, right? Oh, darn! This is a Camaro forum. Sorry. Last edited by lostwon; 05-19-2014 at 09:45 PM. |
