Chasing classic cars

A show on Velocity channel, if you haven't seen it, hosted by Wayne Carini who assists buyers in auctions and also estimates values of cars for people and helps them sell the car.
Tonight's episode he was with a gentleman at an auction which had a 1969 COPO camaro #63. Wayne was assisting the buyer who bought the '69 for $380,000.
Beautiful car!
Wayne gets to ride in some nice cars.

I like that show. If I ever hit the Powerball, I'd give him a call. He seems very thorough.

What color was the car? Was the previous owner named Porterfield?

I am going to guess that this was the same show as I only caught the end and I heard a Camaro for $380k (had TV on while unloading car from our shopping trip to the city so didn't see everything)
I did hear the car didn't have the original engine in it. He said after he bought the car someone came up to him and said they had the original engine and they were suppose to make a deal on it too. Didn't catch if they're did or not.
Enjoy the show when I can watch it.

This was precisely the situation re: Porterfield's yellow '69 ZL-1; he had known the owner of the original engine since the '90s. How many situations like this could be possible?

I'm starting to think this is Bill Porterfield's yellow ZL-1. He would be 70 years old now. He also owned the first ZL-1 Camaro, which had originally been sold to Fred Gibb specifically for drag racing. It was sold a few years back:

Porterfield had to restore that car twice- it had been in a fire after resto, which started in it's car trailer.

Did Porterfield die or something?? He gave a great big damn about his ZL-1s.

Both cars were featured in the August 1994 issue of Classic Auto Restorer magazine...my original copy is in front of me right now. The yellow car was 7.1 lbs per BHP

That show is awesome. I don't get that channel right now, but definitely looking forward to getting it back.
