What is with these GM recalls?!

First the ignition switches, then the truck fires, then the ELR, then the Cruze, and now another 1.3 million for power steering? This is insane!

GM got caught being sneaky, which caused people to look closer at their products, which caused these recalls. Makes you wonder if GM really has changed from it's pre-bankruptcy state.

They're basically going over everything with a fine toothed comb now. Better to get everything out of the way right now then have another ignition fiasco 10 years from now.

Thats one way to look at.

Another is that pre-bankruptcy GM didn't recall these vehicles, and post-bankruptcy has. Its hard to deny that because, well, thats what happened. Unfortunately, we can't really demonize anyone with statements like that -or applaud anyone. So what if ...

Alternatively, you could say that when the bean counters & professional manager managers were in charge, they tried to sweep this under the rug. With engineers at the helm, they're working to set things right -regardless of what it means for the stockholders. Thats probably a load of BS, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1 media outlet runs a story to that affect (if they haven't already).

Personally, I say its just one of those statistical anomalies that, however unlikely, are bound to happen every now & then. Just like how you can go months or years without hearing a particular phrase, then you read and/or hear it 3 times in a single day. Random chance causes clusters, and people often mistake clusters for patterns (hot/cold streaks in sports or gambling for example). As such, it likely means very little and should probably be ignored & let the focus shift to more important things. I should add, I'm saying that the co-occurance of the recalls are the random thing to be ignored, not the recalls themselves.

Knowing about an issue, doing nothing about it and having people die because of it, is pretty shady no matter which way you look at it.

Did you even look at the articles?

Recalled ignition switches expand to 2013-2014 models.

I've had bad luck with GM vehicles in the past and I took a chance on the Camaro. So far I've had no issues with mine. My only complaint is around things like changing the headlights requires taking off the front bumper or changing out the factory speakers requires you to basically remove the back seat and quarter panels.

That's kinda her doing. She's owning up to the problems personally and that's what she should do. She's the CEO.

Despite all the doom and gloom you hear about the company right now the one positive thing is how impressed people are with how Barra is handling it. She's proving that she deserves her job.

None of the vehicles with that ignition switch are even being made today.....
I think those are for other issues not ignition switches.
I read the other day Barra also made the statement that if anyone knows of any safety related defect no matter how small let her know and she will issue a recall order herself. If that is true I bet many of these new recalls are due to her order.
