How bad will the ignition switch recall get?

As the ignition switch(actually the tumbler assembly) recall gets going, the questions are being raised about when did the old GM know about this and when did the NEW GM become aware that they had a problem. So what is the bottom line? What do you all think about how this is being handled and will it threaten the future of GM.

I think it could get pretty bad as far as payouts for GM, but I doubt that it will do little to affect the company's growth. People seem to forget things pretty quickly these days. I also doubt that this thread will get very far without getting closed.

Not really. We'll see, but this is a touchy topic for a forum that is so close to GM brass. I wouldn't want it here if I were them.

No it isn't. If it doesn't specifically follow the agendas of the admins, mods, or vendors, it will get closed or erased into oblivion.

There are reports that the old GM knew about this in 2001, had issued service bulletins in 2005, and had its first ignition switch related death in 2006. This is not going to go well.

The "devil is in the details" and, until any untoward conclusive details are known, it will proceed as all past recalls do: Identify, Notify, Satisfy.
