Hi all! New here.

Hi all, my name's Dustin. I live in Daphne, Alabama. I bought a 2014 Blue Ray Metallic 2SS/RS with Navigation, Sunroof, factory Short Throw Shifter, and 20" Polished Aluminum rims back in October right after my 2006 GTO was taken out by a SUV. I joined this forum right after purchasing the car but haven't had the time to make a profile or add pics until today. I was a member of gtoforum.com and ls2gto.com and found them enjoyable and full of information so it was a no brainer for me to join here.

A bit about my old car... I bought my 2006 Impulse Blue Metallic GTO with the automatic transmission back in June of 06 and other than JHP plug and play pod gauges, K&N cai, and Borla exhaust, I kept it stock until the warranty ran out (took about 2.5 years into ownership before she hit 32K miles).

After that I added a bunch of stuff including Kooks Signature Series catted headers, DMH low profile e-cutouts, a heads/cam package from Texas Speed that consisted of CNC ported LS3 heads with hollow stem valves and titanium retainers, heat treated pushrods, and a 228/232, .595 lift, 114 LSA cam, FAST 102 LSXR intake manifold with FAST fuel rails and rail crossover, 46# FAST fuel injectors, GM LS3 rocker arms with the Comp needle trunnion upgrade kit, Nick Williams 102mm dbw throttle body, custom 100mm CAI with Texas Speed 100mm billet MAF, Billet Prototypes catch can, TCI Breakaway 2500 stall, and DBA crossdrilled and slotted rotors. I miss that car dearly. It put down 455 rwhp and 431 trq on a dynojet dyno.

All that being said, this new Camaro is amazing. Sure, it's not as fast as my Goat was. I didn't expect it to be. It's also my first car with a manual transmission so driving it around for the first month or 2 was embarrassing to say the least (I killed it 3 times driving it home from the dealership. To my knowledge, my wife hasn't killed it yet). The interior is like a Cadillac. The GTO interior was nice, but it didn't have any of the toys or gizmos this Camaro has.

Outside of a decently optioned C6 (which I couldn't afford and need a back seat anyhow), I can't see any other car putting a smile on my face the way this Camaro does every time I get behind the wheel. It's like that Cadillac CTS commercial that came out with the chick a couple years ago when she asks you, "When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?..." This car MOST CERTAINLY DOES. I am very excited to join the Camaro family and can't wait to start modding this thing, however, I think I'll be going the supercharger route this time instead of beefing up an all motor build like I did last time because this Camaro already gets WAY better gas mileage than what my GTO did stock and I want to try and keep the good mpg thing going for me (as much as humanly possible anyhow... my gto's computer said it was averaging 13.5 mpg between city and highway after I built it up... eek!)

I've had a few negative comments towards the car, ironically mostly from GM assholes. Got the 2010-2013 Camaro guys that say GM ruined the car and it looks like a Prelude now (as if) and the Vette and 4th Gen guys saying good luck getting that fat pig going fast, but you know what, screw the haters, this is an awesome car, my wife and I love this car, and no matter what I end up deciding to do under the hood of this thing down the road, there is nothing else I'd rather be behind the wheel of.

Dustin, CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
