Bad gas mileage...4th week of owning it and 6 full tanks
I have a 2013 2LT RS V6 and it started out with good gas mileage... Around 25mpg Highway and city mixed. That was WI h Exxon regular gas. Now that all Exxons are closed in my area I put Lukoil regular. I found that mixed driving gave me 15mpg. I filled up again thinking it was my driving because I do have a lead foot. I drove very carefully and all it degraded even more (13mpg).
Thinking it may be the fuel, I tried BP supreme gas. This is giving me 14.3 now. I've been trying different gas and range and all are around 13-15mpg with me driving very carefully. The car is not modded in any way. Could there be a mechanical issue? |

You live in New Jersey?
Did your mileage going down coincide with the cold snap? That would be normal, although your mileage drop does seem excessive. Now that it's warmed up some, you should reset the gas mileage and see what happens. |

Is it past its break in period? Mine didnt do all that good u til around 5000 miles, however I didnt break mine in like I was suggested to by Chevy, I drove it like I stole it, I was hell on it from day one. Around 6000 mile mark I eased up and have drove it like a normal sane person would.
I even tried out many different techniques to see what fuel savings I could muster up(actually got 32.5 MPGs) during one test......the car hated me for it though. your mileage sounds pretty crappy though, I would give it until the car is around 7000 miles and if it dont improve, I would get it checked out, because arou d tbe city here in Vegas I am getting around 21~22 MPGs, and I for sure am not being easy on it here.

If your spending a lot of time at idle, your readout will drop like a rock. This is very common when it gets cold, because folks have a tendency to warm their cars before driving.

how are you calculating your mileage? distance between fill-ups divided by gallons put in tank, or just using the DIC?

My 1LT gets 22 MPG, pretty consistently (same as it has been since I purchased it at 13,000 miles, now at 62,000). I drive it very hard... rarely does a week go by that triple digits don't flash on the speedo, and my commute takes me through many miles of twisties, and many thousands of feet of elevation gain/ loss every day... which, most of the time, is taken at high speed. I'm a hopeless addict, don't be hatin.' On the Interstate, I can reset the DIC, and maintain 35 MPG for extended periods of time (even at 70+ MPH), and the numbers that thing gives me are spot- on, when I compare them to my manual calculations.

Did you change to winter tires? Same sizes?
One of the reasons I didn't go with the V6 was that the mileage wasn't much different than the SS. 20 seems about average but 13 is really low. Winter blend fuel in NJ and the cold temps we've been having do take their toll, especially if you idle to warm it up for long periods of time each morning. Try a could of tanks of mid-grade fuel.

To try out new gas, you'll need to use them a few times. So give BP a few more runs. Also, see if the highway MPG changes. |

Break in period, winter gas, most likely responsible.
V6's should be able to do 29-30 straight highway at 70ish. Remember, city driving stop and go is hard on these heavy cars. I used to get about 18 in mixed driving in mine.
