Head Gasket Thickness Effect On Compression ??

I've looked around a bit but cannot really find a definitive answer, so I was looking at getting a slightly thicker head gasket and it was advertised that it would lower the compression ratio by ~1 just so I could run boost more safely, except I don't understand why this would drop the compression. I was told that it slightly increased the combustion chamber volume, except everywhere I have seen said that milling your heads, which also increases CC volume increases your compression. Could someone explain this to me? I'm so lost when it comes to this! Thank you in advance!

Milling the heads decrease the CC size of the chamber. Adding a thicker gasket doesn't increase the chamber size but increases the area the a/f is when compressed and in return lowers compression.

No such thing. It's a good question to ask!

It will ruin your quench running a thicker head gasket. Its not as important on a fi motor as an n/a or nitrous motor, but still. And i think its every .1 thickness is 1 point of compression

The equation to calculation compression ratio is:

CR = Volume of chamber when piston is at BDC / Volume of chamber when piston is at TDC

Spacing the head further from the deck will increase the volume for both the numerator and denominator of this equation by the same amount, which will reduce the compression ratio
