As I figured. It's like the styrofoam egg cartons. Mother $&@!?$$$!!$! Egged my car tonight. Drove a couple houses down and picked up the egg carton with a glove.

DNA may be found, however the problem lies with how many people may have handled the egg carton before the suspects did? Also the cost of sending it to a lab and having it processed is rather expensive, and not something that most Depts. can afford to do for a Criminal damage to property case. (that type of CSI is usually saved for homicides, robberies, rapes, etc...) Aside from that, if the suspects are not in the DNA data base, you have no one to tie it to, thus no results for a lot of money spent. Having said that, prints on a Styrofoam carton are much easier to collect, and can be done in house by most agencies, with little cost involved.

And don't forget the big step of proving that the suspects used the eggs on your car, not just for breakfast. Any surveillance cameras in the area?

Time and money won't be wasted for finger prints/DNA over a car egging.

they're not going to run DNA tests on an egg carton for minor vandalism.

Send it to Maury Povich, no DNA test is too small for him.

Just because you found an egg carton in someones yard does not prove that particular egg carton was the same one involved in the vandalism.
You may very well be right, but unless it can be proven in a court of law it in useless.

Your going to have to find a "witness" or video surveillance of some kind to actually see the perps doing the deed.

Thats some shick. I think you are better off just letting your insurance company fix you car, then install a security camera system in an out of the way place. When the installers come have them come in a plane unmarked vehicle so not to let your neighbors know it being installed. Not only that you can have the money used for the install as a tax deduction in most cases. So if it happens again you have them on camera. To get someone to run prints is a waste of time and getting DNA is useless unless you have a suspect in custody where you can get a DNA sample from them.
