Samsung Smartwatch

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/p...erlin/2762737/

Above is the live stream of the announcement.

Just curious - who here would want one? I'll admit it would be really nice to see who's calling without have a specific ringtone or having to pull the phone out of my pocket. I'm not sure of all the other functionality but it could be something that brings watches back to mainstream. I haven't worn one for years now except a dress watch a few times.

There's no way I'm getting a smartwatch. The screen would be too small to be useful.

Unless you take a picture with your phone of all your friends with their faces plastered up against glass, and then set that as their photo on your smart watch.

Then whenever they call and it shows up on your wristband...

Just don't forget to change out pics of exGF's to some ugly chick so the new GF doesn't feel threatened if they call you.

Why would your ex-GF be calling you?

You know you can block phone numbers now, right?

I honestly don't use my smartphone for much more than calling people, texting a little...and occasionally checking weather or e-mail.

Having that stuff in a smaller footprint with a device that tells time and I don't have to worry about leaving somewhere might not be such a bad thing.

I have desktop machines for my real computer work, laptops for mobile work...and even a Surface that I got recently to replace my iPad 1 that crashes all the time when browsing facebook because Apple isn't upwardly compatible for a lot of software.

To have my phone on a watch (Dick Tracy style), with optional skype/videoconferencing would actually be kind of nice.

waste screen would bee too small, and too delicate, people whack their smart phones and break screens all the time, can you imagine how many smart watches are gonna get broke..

Plus I could really care less who is calling me, I seldom answer my phone, last thing I want to do is answer my dick tracy watch..

I haven't worn a watch in 15 years.. I work with live electronics, so it's not practical for me, always have to take them off.. It's bad enough I have to pocket my wedding ring several times a day, but after watching someone have their wedding ring fused to their finger on a live circuit.. no thanks

My buddy bought some other smartwatch. Paid $400. Wore it once that I'm aware of. He's in the professional world. I told him to get a nice watch that looks good with a suit, but no, has to be different from everyone else.

My opinion, nothing beats a Rolex, very classic.
