C7 to 911 Comparison Questions
This is my first post. I’m glad to have found this forum and look forward to staying tuned-in over the next several months to read user reviews of the C7 as the units start to roll out. I am a “reformed” Porsche fan having owned 3 of them in the last 3 years [’10 and ’12 Boxsters and a factory ordered ’13 911 PDK Carrerra.] No doubt they are awesome machines, and the PDK is a delight to drive. I say reformed because I refuse to pay the Euro currency exchange premium for the Porsche any more [which is about 30% over our USD]. It’s not that a new Porsche is better by 30% over a comparable US made machine [and until the C7 there really were no 911 US built comparables]. It’s that one is paying some 30% more just because the dollar is that much weaker than the Euro. Thank you Chevrolet for finally giving us a US made high performance car that is on a par with the 911. And also for giving us so many features included at no extra cost [unlike the Porsche folks that charge extra for everything]. So much for my soapbox tirade. Here are a couple of questions.
1. Is there anyone out there that has driven both the PDK and the C7 auto that could compare the two? 2 With the PDK, when both paddles are depressed simultaneously the car goes into neutral at low speeds [like when pulling up to a light]. What happens in the C7? 3. Porsche offers something called “paint to sample” where a factory ordered car can be painted your choice of color for a fee [$5K option]. Does the C7 offer the same or similar? |

I can tell you right now with the volume Corvette is produced at, there's no way they'll ever do custom exterior paint.
