Car Review Smart for 2 Cabrolet
Yesterday we were out tooling around in the Sky, and passed a Mercedes Dealership that also sold the Smart for 2. My wife has always thought they were cute so we stopped in to look at one up close.
The least expensive one was a coupe for $13,000, the most expensive one was a Sports model Cabrolet for $21,000. The Salesman came out and started bragging on the car, saying how sporty and peppy it was and how he had had several Sky's traded in for them. Well he offered us to test drive a Cabrolet. He put the top down and started it up, We got in and first thing we noticed was we were rubbing shoulders. There was plenty of legroom but no side room at all... The only transmission was a auto manual, which required you to lift the throttle when you you wanted to shift automatically. which I will describe to you later my experience. I put the car in "D" and then Pushed on the gas pedal.... After about a second it started to move... I pulled up to the exit of the dealership and started to pull into traffic.. THIS CAR SCARED ME TO DEATH... I thought I would get run over before I got out of the parking lot... When it sounded like the engine was about to come apart I lifted off the gas and then put my foot back down, it finally shifted to second.. we were doing a whopping 15 mph.... Later I found that it worked better if you shifted using the paddle shifters but it was only slightly better... Well before we got back to the dealership we were both shaking, scared we would get run over, or even worse someone we knew would see us in the "car" (and I use that term loosely). We finally got back the the dealership and was so glad to give the salesman back the keys. He asked if we wanted to trade and I had a hard time not laughing in his face. I wouldn't take 2 of them for a even trade for my Sky. so on a one to 10 scale I will rate the cars aspects. EXTERIOR: 8 (CUTE AS A BUTTON) INTERIOR: 3 (LOOKS GOOD BUT NO ROOM) TRUNK SPACE: 3 (ABOUT AS MUCH ROOM AS OUR SKY) PREFORMANCE: 1 (BE PREPARED TO DO A LOT OF WAITING TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC) VALUE: 1 ( MANY BETTER CARS AVAILABLE FOR THE PRICE) OVERALL I WOULD GIVE THIS CAR A RATING OF 3.
