Yes, I know!!! And Texas used almost all their pitchers last night, but I know they'll come out ready tonight. I just hope we bring our bats tonight! It should be a good game.

With the price of quality wood bats either ash or maple being anywhere between 150 and 225 a bat, college programs could never afford to use wood bats... a good ash bat has a maximum number of grains in the barrel between 10 and 16, this type of ash is actually quite rare and is pretty much reserved for the big leaguers and is unavailable to the general public through Louisville Slugger, Easton (yes they make wood), Mizuno, etc. The maple bats have problems with knots in the grain, so knotless maple is hard to get thru Sam Bat, Xbat, BPW, Hickory Stick, etc etc etc...

the max ejection speed off the barrel of a modern college legal baseball bat is something like 128mph before the metal starts to fatigue. Aliuminum bats are waranteed for a year so dented and cracked ones are sent back and replaced for free by the company that contacts with the athletic dept... this is the main reason college programs have not adopted wood bat rules. Yes they are more forgiving that wood bats for off center of the barrel hits, however i can promise you, sweet spot on a wood bat, although about an inch smaller in area, goes just as far as the aluminum. The problem is off center hits shatter wood.
werd up.

It's been discussed and not even LSU, who I think is the highest baseball revenue generating program, could afford to go to wood bats. Not their fat but it still sounds dumb as hell.

Go Tigers.

The problem isnt the big programs, its the other 130+ Divison 1-A baseball programs with 1/10 the budget.

and Tulane's new stadium was nicer to play in than LSU's.
