Harris County deputy constables said it happened in northwest Harris County around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to investigators, a driver speeding failed to make a curve, drove through a field, hit an embankment and went airborne.

"Used that to go airborne to strike the first house. It inverted and somersaulted, landed on the roof upside down," said Assistant Chief John Laine with Harris County Sheriff's Department.

Susan Mistini said she thought someone was breaking into her home.

"I said, 'What's going on?' And he said, 'Hurry up, there's a car in your roof,'" said Mistini.

Neighbors said the said the impact was loud.[sic]

"I heard screeching tires, then boom, boom, boom," said Kaithi Back. "Loudest noise I've ever heard. Jumped out of bed."

Emergency crews rescued the driver and transported him to a hospital in stable condition.

The driver's sister said he's going to be fine. She said he's 24-years-old and was visiting friends.

Investigators said a crane needed to be used to remove the SUV from the roof of the second house.

Investigators believe speed and perhaps alcohol played a factor in the crash. Authorities have not yet said whether the driver will face charges.

I saw a news report that said he was probably doing close to 90mph when he left the road

If this were in Russia, the dashcam footage would already have been uploaded to youtube

The driver made it through the whole ordeal with barely a scratch on him...go figure...
