How long will the stock motor last supercharged?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of how long the stock motor will last if driven normally daily, thrashed a little bit on the weekends, and I put about 15K miles on it per year. And I mean supercharged with the ECS kit and a custom tune (on a 6 speed manual) so ~600-650RWHP, also with ported intake manifold and 3" high flow cat back, any ideas? thanks! (it will never be tracked or taken to the drag strip either!)

For the life of the car, with the right tune.

I drove mine for over 9K miles before I upgraded the cam. It can last as long as you need it to as long as you take care of it. You just need to be prepared for a "just in case" moment. There's no definitive answer to this question.

when I had my blower on my gto, I drove it hard , and on long road trips without worry. with the correct set up/tune its fine. its when you are really pushing the hp and limits that you may have issues. why do you think SLP offers a 5 yr warranty on their stage 1 , 2 , or 3 kit. confidence in their product and results

The answer is "it depends". A lot of that is on the tune. Have a backup plan.

It could run well forever or take a shit on you a week after you get it. All depends on the tuner. A tune makes the car.

if tune is right and octane is right and fuel system is supportive. I'd say quite a while. after 20000 and 1.5 years I'm taking mine out of the car and leakdown and compression test were both good at 700whp. (building erl for more power) After finding a decent tuner the next biggest trick is having good fuel. Sometimes 93 just isn't 93. Personally when I plan on beating the snot out of it I put a few gallons of 104 into the mix.

Okay, so a lot of it's about the tune, where I live only 91 octane is available (no E85 either), and I really don't want to run water/meth injection, would that effect engine life?

Respecting the boost will ensure that you don't stress the internals. If you are satisfied with 120-140rwhp out of the box then the odds are that your engine will have a nice long life.

The manufacturers even offer 100k mile warranties on their 'stock' systems.

The thing about that is: No IF what comes out is actually 91. Sometimes the pump puts out a lower octane than stated and that's when the engine gets hurt.

Adding a couple gallons of high octane gas (100oct+) from your house when you're going to rip into it will prevent the bad gas issue.

That warranty only works if you don't add anything else such as LT's or a CAI and use the SC manufacturers boxed tune with it. Also if you noticed he already stated he's aiming for 600-650rwhp. Well over the sc base system.

91 is low for a boosted 6.2. You'd have to have some timing backed out of the tune. But yourself some octane booster and put half a bottle in each tankfull. Get you up around 93-94.

The key is fuel quality and the tune for the most part. You can have the best tune in the world but if you accidentally fill the car with regular and race it hard it could be done right there, or you can be like some of our customers who have well over 100,000 miles on the car after it has been supercharged.
