Chevrolet SS

With the Chevrolet SS sedan officially being revealed today I have been doing a little research and have found that most say it will have the ls3 with a six speed manual. But that combination doesn't make it all that exclusive, like GM has said, now an lsa with mag-ride would be nice but could push the price up near the zl1 (somewhere in the 50k range). If GM isn't planning on selling more than 5000-10000 units it would be kind of expected to be in that price range though. Since the corvette no longer has a need for the ls7, maybe they will split them up between the camaro and the SS sedan.

Splitting the LS7 onto the SS doesn't make any sense for Chevy. This made me think of something though, what about the LS9? Now that the C6 will be dead & it'll be a couple of years before a new C7 Z06 & ZR1 are introduced.

It's been confirmed to be initially released with an LS3 with an auto, no manual has been mentioned.

Edit: and check out the "General Automotive" sub forum for other Chevy SS pictures and release information.

Ls9 in a sedan . Oh man that would be amazing, sure would make for an "exclusive" car. Since there has been talk of an ls7 camaro could it be possible maybe for an ls9?

Later on (after the corvette has been out a year) they should definetly be putting the lt1 in and maybe a higher performance version.does any body think they will make a lower performance "fuel efficient" model. Seems unlikely since everything I have heard so far is this is a performance car. Hence the name SS.

No, they will be keeping that fuel efficient stuff to the other sedans. This car is V8 only.

Being built in Australia is a big plus (no offense to the U.S. or Canada). My GTO was well built and very nice inside. Just hope the paint process has been improved and we have more choices in color inside and out.

Thats what I was hoping to hear, and maybe they will go in the opposite direction and up the performance even more Too bad no manual transmission though (yet)

I guess I still believe that an SS should be a coupe or a ragtop. Those 90's SS impala s were ok but they should've made them two doors. Any more doors than that or a FWD or a truck should not be called an SS IMO.
