Arrow Space Shuttle Challenger: 27 years later

Today marks the 28th year anniversary of the Challenger Disaster that marked America's first in-flight tragedy.

Write-Up coming later explaining what happened, what resulted, and where Challenger is today.

I remember I was in the 8th grade when this happened. I was in Ms. Wardell's Algebra class. We were watching on TV, it was the first time a teacher would be in space. I just remember her breaking out in tears. Tragic.

Sorry, I'm waiting to see where the Challenger is today, not smiling because of the outcome.

Very sad read. I had always thought they died instantly from the exsplosion. Knowing that they were most likely alive and possibly awake all the way to impact with the ocean is very disturbing........

in all honesty that is probably a good thing.. The media tends to spin stuff like this into sensationalism and rhetoric and it would have destroyed the memory of those heroes.

Wow, just read that. That's very sad. I wonder if there was more that was heard after the explosion that hasn't been released.

One has to wonder if they lived under water also after the impact, although surviving that impact would probably prove to be impossible.

I remember that day clearly. I was laid off of work setting at home watching it live on TV. When it exploded I instantly got this sick feeling. The announcers went silent. I said to myself, I can't believe what I'm seeing unfold. What a tragedy.

The Challenger and 911 tragedies.....both I watched unfold and will never forget...

Both failed Shuttle missions could have been stopped because NASA and the Government knew of the safety issues. NASA sent those brave astronauts to their deaths instead of delaying the flights to repair the issues
