Anyone know bikes? May buy this...but I know nothing about bikes lol.

Looking for something cheap and very fuel efficient. Not speed. This is a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R...What do you guys think for the price?

Also open to suggestions. $3000 is my budget. I want the sporty look.

A Ninja 250 is a good choice. Pretty comfortable seating position, great MPGYou could probably get an even older one for less. A Fazer might work too.

They're good starter bikes. If you do a lot of highway driving, though, you'll be looking to upgrade pretty soon. The 250's can get up to highway speeds (if your not to heavy), but they're pretty much maxed out. If this is your first bike, I'd go used. There is nothing more disappointing then dropping your brand new bike, and trust me it will happen. I dropped mine twice. First time I got off at a gas pump and forgot to put the stand down. The second time was at 60mph on the highway (clipped a car).

My brother has a Ninja 250 for his gas savings commute. He was a first time rider so he thought to start off small and he definitely is NOT a speed demon with anything he drives.

It didn't take long for him to desire a little more ooomph, especially when you are maxed out at 60mph on the highway and impeding traffic flow behind you. Or if you want to pass someone on a two-way street and you wanna get it over with somewhat quickly.

If you have $3K, I would go a little bigger than 250 and make your investment last longer as the skill level goes up. My first bike was a 83' 750 Midnight Virago that I got for about $600. That son of a bitch was fun!!! I ride to enjoy the ride, but if i need power, I damn sure had it available with a twist of the throttle. My first wheelie was a little unexpected, but I landed it. :P

Hey man do you ride or is this your first bike? I've been riding for 5 years and just bought a 2012 GSXR 1000

Would like to help you out with this stuff dude
Personally. Don't go with the 250. My buddy has it. Guaranteed within a year you'll sell it and buy a new bike the following year. It's just not enough power at all. A 600 is a great starter bike that has more then enough power to entertain you and get you in trouble lol
If your budget is 3k you can get quite a few bike but up that to 4k and you'll be able to get a decent bike

Listen to the guys here. They have some good info. I rode my buddy's 250. You have to practically gun it to keep up with traffic and you'll be doing gear changes like crazy.

Yeah go bigger! You'll outgrow a 250 before ya know it! My first bike was a 2006 suzuki katana 600cc! Still riding it, but wanting more! It's a great starter bike also!
It's a sport touring bike! Kinda sporty but you don't have to lean forward all the time! They are now called a GSX650F!
