New to C5. Any teenagers that share my newfound love for Camaros?
Hey I'm new here. I've always loved the camaro but the 5 th ten camaro is what made fall in love with the brand. It's a hella sexy car (agree?). Just want to see what ppl think and also: when I go off to college in 2 yrs what Camaro should I get? I'm think the SS but my bro thinks otherwise. Aiight.

Hey, welcome to C5! Seeing how your "New" here, lol. Anyways, same goes with the 5th gen stealing my love of cars, I would go with a v6, get more options for the same price of a v8. I'm 18 and trust me, if I had a v8, I would be wrapped around a tree!! And side note, do NOT get any traffic violations or at fault accidents, young drivers insurance on a camaro is high enough! Lol.

Don't listen to "DarkneZZ".
These are some sexy cars and I haven't once regretted buying one. I come from a Hot rod family and I love it when one of my Uncles would bust me on buying the V6 until I took them for a ride. I'd say for your first Camaro the V6 is the way to go. Can't beat 30MPG. |

Funny how someone who joined a month ago already feels he runs the show.
If you haven't figured out C5, maybe go read the rules page, rule number one specifically. Answer the question, or don't post. OP, I would think the V6 is a great first camaro. I drive my V6 at college right now. It's still a head turner (and honestly regular people don't know the difference), and it only costs 1 arm to fill up instead of two! Gas a serious consideration for buying. Driving all city I'll get 220-250 miles on a tank. And it's $50-60 to fill up about once a week. Being on a college campus, there is a lot of stop and go traffic and some of my classes are too far to walk to. Now, will I be getting an SS? Absolutely! But right now the LS is affordable payment, insurance, and gas wise.

Hey what's up welcome !im 18 and I just started my 1st year in college and I have a 2ss camaro. I'm not gonna lie its pretty expensive for me at least. I fuel up once a week. So yeah about every 7 days! It gets full with about 55ish sometimes 60. And then my payments are about 620 ish. My dad helps me with 200 on they car payment. So it pretty much depends on you and what you want and your budget :p so if you get some parents help I say you get a v8 but otherwise if they aren't I say v6 unless you got a badass job. So yeah like I said just depends on your situation good luck and welcome !

Camaros have always been "my" car, have wanted one all my life and I finally bought one so I definitely know where you're coming from, although I'm about 4 years removed from being a teenager
![]() Key is to never buy anything that you are not comfortable with financially or physically driving. An SS as a first car may be a little rough, especially when you factor in maintenance and up keep plus that whole mod bug thing ![]() My Camaro is my garage queen and it is definitely babied, maintained and going to be one hella Camaro once I start modding. I would never EVER park it at a college campus after my undergrad experience with my now DD, Pontiac G6 GT coupe, thing was backed into, door dinged, etc... even though I parked very very very far away because at the time that was my baby. Anyway I'm not trying to scare you away from a Camaro but I'm just trying to put into your mind this is not going to be your everyday first car beater. It will be costly, need extreme care and the right amount of motivation to keep it pristine and well to keep it. Your young years may not be the best time to do this seeing as there are lot of distractions with college and life in general but if you're motivated you can do it! Oh and if your parents are paying for you to have an SS you are the luckiest kid out there! Please show them some affection and don't take advantage of this awesome opportunity

NikeCamaro, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

I am now in my second year of college but got my 2SSRS back in February. I love it!! My parents did buy it for me but I thank them everyday for it. I get ok gas mileage but I also walk to most of my classes. As long as you are responsible enough to have a V8 then I say go for an SS but keep the racing on the drag stripe lol. I have a lead foot so I learned my lesson the hard way.
Btw welcome to C5 |

I can't imagine having a car payment over $600
Then again, I pay $290/month for my Camaro. I've been in love with these cars since I was about 8 years old and saw my babysitter's Camaro!Welcome around, and check out the LT/RS. Great Camaro for you to start out with. Much less expensive, good gas mileage, much lower insurance at your age, cheaper maintenance and still quick as all get-out and sexy! If you live in the city you won't be able to really unleash the potential of the SS often and you'll get horrid gas mileage with it; keep that in mind.

Welcome to Camaro5. I can tell you first hand you will want an LT/RS. Whether you get the 1LT or 2LT is up to you but you will not be disappointed. I would recommend the V6 as a stepping stone into the Camaro. Good luck with your choice, I'm sure you will be happy with any option you choose.
