are you going to finance through a credit union by chance? They usually offer extended warranties that are better than dealer ones offered.. ie. i just picked up a 7yr 100k mile warranty on my 2010 camamro with 14k miles on it for $1700. dealer wanted to offer me a 5yr, 50k warranty for $2500

You can get a GM extended warranty regardless of where/how you bought the (GM) vehicle. You have to buy them from a GM dealer, but there are numerous dealers that sell discounted warranties online.
Unfortunately, you can only buy a GM new car extended warranty up to 36 mo/36K miles from the vehicle's original in-service date. You are only able to get a used car extended warranty from GM, which is not nearly as good a deal...
