Volt Sales Hit New Record

Maybe it's not doomed!

It's a cool car. If I could afford one, I'd have one.

I would so have one if I could afford it. I think they are great, especially when I am the only one in the car 90% of the time.

Funny since they are not selling and have too many in inventory and suspended production. Who knows.

Yeah!!! Just in time to shut down the plant. They must have a pile of them in inventory.

Funny since Detroit-Hamtramck is shutting down to retool for 2014 Impala production, not because of Volt inventory issues.

I hate it when the media spins things to make things appear a certain way. If you've been watching the news lately, it would lead anyone outside of the car world such as yourself to believe that it's due to inventory problems with the volt.

I'll be honest, I thought it was Volt inventory at first as well, even with the decent uptick in sales over the last few months. Then I remembered Impala was starting up at D-Ham in January, and GM later confirmed that was the reason for the shut down.

Just doesn't make sense to buy a $40k car if you're trying to save on gas.

Why does every Volt thread degenerate into whether or not the car is worth it? Isn't it possible some people want a Volt just because it's an interesting, high-tech car? Or because they just want an electric car?

I mean, if you don't want the car, then don't buy one. WGAS.

If you're in the EV market, aka looking to buy an EV, then Volt is worth every penny compared to its competitors.

And honestly, unless you're driving something that gets absolutely abysmal fuel economy, does it make sense to buy ANY brand new car at all to save on gas once you factor in purchase cost, maintenance cost, etc?

"Why does every Volt thread degenerate into whether or not the car is worth it?"

Because its not. Most people looking for those types of cars are looking to save on gas. Sure there are plenty like you listed that want it for other reasons, but they are in the minority. MPG is one of the most important things people care about nowadays when it comes to car purchasing and the lack of Volt sales is evidence of that.

Why are you so confused here? This is a thread about Volt sales. The Volt isn't selling well, so why would you not expect people to discuss why it is not selling well?

Maybe, but while we are on the subject, the back seat in my Camaro is not very comfortable and the trunk space is kind of small...
